Smart Priority Switch

I have "acquired" a Pinnacle Sat PCI card for my PC. I was trying to get it to do something over the weekend by looping the LNB through my BEC receiver but no joy. The PC is in another room so I was only running a temporary cable as a trial.

Trawling through previous posts here, it seems that what I need is a smart priority switch. The "how it works" link for the SPS1 seems to be dead. So presumably, when I put the BEC on standby, it will hand off the LNB control to the PC card - is this correct? I would use my BEC to position the dish. Does anyone see any problems with such an arrangement?

I'm surprised that you cannot get the loopthrough working, works perfectly with My SS2 and BEC, but the BEC does need to be switched off though for it to work.

Thanks for the reply, Rolf. When you say "switched off", I take you mean standby as opposed to totally depowered - I tried it on standby. My temporary cable was about 25 metres long (about twice as long as it would be when it's under the floor) would this have had an effect, is it too long? There's about another 12 or 13 metres from the receiver to the dish.

It certainly wouldn't help Norm, if it is CT100 or equivalent, you could be losing between 8 to 10db on the 25m run, plus the PC cards do not have the most sensitive of tuners. A better bet would be a twin or quad LNB on the dish.
