Snow in May isn't unheard of around these parts, I remember starting my "summer" GCSE's in the middle of May with a French oral exam whilst it was snowing outside! Rare to see it lie though.

I've encountered snow in July before, here in Engerland.

Errm, I remember 76 and it was the hottest mid-year of my life.

In every way.

I was 19.

Was for me as well also in every way, I was living in the Middle East in temperatures some can only imagine, I was 22 at the time

I wasn't even old enough to go to School in 1976 :-lmao

It hit the dizzy height of 21 degrees in the Midlands this afternoon :D

Fahrenheit is a stupid temperature scale, it isn't even linear like Celsius and Kelvin :D

And that's tonight's totally useless fact.

Sorry but it's as linear as any other scale. It just uses different reference points for zero and 100 degrees.

I hate F as a scale. Makes no sense to me as to why water would freeze at 32°... Yes, it was created from other 'checkpoints' but it really shouldn't be used for outside temperatures.

TBH, I take a view from looking at the sky in the morning. Normally good enough to plan around... Until I get caught in the rain on a roof ;)

It is a matter of opinion really. And what you're brought up makes the most sense to a person. I've long been aware of the Reumer scale (zero for freezing point of water and 80 for its boiling point) which is, I believe, Russian (attention CJ).

What I wasn't aware of until I just looked it up were the Rankine, Remer, Newton and Delisle scales.

I'd say hardly anyone under 40 these days in the UK at least chooses to use Fahrenheit over Celsius to describe temperature. It's been one element of metrification that has been a success.

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

That's cos it makes sense, below 0°C, freezing, above 0°C, not freezing, +100°C (sea level) & above, boiling, simple... :)

Fahrenheit just wanted to put temperatures in circles, with Freezing point and Boiling point 180 Degrees apart...

But why did Kelvin end up at 373.2K for the boiling point of water, understand 0 Kelvin, when all movement stops, but why the .2?
Are we talking dimensions of a satellite dish?
