An ordinary magnet, the super cooling effect of liquid nitrogen makes the magnets perform as superconductors I first saw this demonstrated at least 10 years ago
But the cylinder is a superconductor that has not yet been supercooled and is not attracted to a magnet, however when cooled the superconductor repels a magnet appearing to levitate it indeed it is where the term 'Maglev' comes from.
