Solid Dish Vs Mesh Dish

I am using a 1.8 mtr offset solid dish, KU band LNB but as I'm at the edge of the footprint, the reception can be marginal in poor weather. I also have the option to use a 3mtr mesh dish which can be fitted with a KU band LNB. Is there any advantage in using the large dish even though it's mesh rather than solid.

If the Mesh is suitable for Ku then there will be an improvement.

Assuming the 3m dish id Prime Focus you will need a proper Ku lnbf.

Go to the Invacom site and study their Ku Scalar feedhorn. A Ku lnbf designed for an offset feed dish will under illuminate your 3m dish.
 
In the caribbean, just on the edge of the footprint for DirecTV. Normally the reception is O.K. but as soon as the weather get's iffy, the picture breaks up.
