Hi, I'm Jeff and I have a student that is going to the UK for a year for English exchange study. I'm assisting with trying to find out if she can access Russian channels from the UK and what would need to be done so that she can do it? I do not know her living situation there.

If there is any information that you need from me, please inform me so I can come to the right answers.

Thank you.

There appear to be a few FTA, Free to Air, Russian language channels on 13E, which is quite easy to pick up in the UK.

You should be able to get away with a Zone 2 dish anywhere in the UK, reducing to a zone 1 in the South East. You will have to check on whether the landlord/building owner will alow a dish to be installed

Thank you or this resource! It looks simple.
If she brought her General Satellite receiver to the UK, would it be useable or if she going to have to buy a receiver in the UK?

Okay, this is very helpful as well, thank you. I will forward this information to her - if she has another question, I hope it can be answered here! Thanks for the helpful responses!

Ok, I just wanted to update and say that all information is clear and it is all settled. Thank you for the help, so I think now the thread may be closed. :)

We leave them open - then folk can ask relevant questions later :)
