A laptop and err..... Nothing else.
My Location
Carmarthenshire, South-West Wales
If, for example, I bought a Conax CAM, would I then be able to access all channels that are encrypted using conax?

Only if you bought a subscription card that used Conax encryption. Please do not start a lot of new threads but instead read the sticky threads, you have a lot of research to do before deciding what you want, especially regarding a dish, and motor, and deciding where you need to site it to get all the available satellites.
