Someone was asking me about Hispasat reception in Georgia

My Satellite Setup
Covering 30W-105.5E range, two motors, C and Ku band. Various receivers/cards/cams/etc.

Sorry I forgot the member name who was asking, and also topic, but here's answer.

Yesterday I've managed to receive it (1.5m primefocus+inverto LNB). Elevation angle is only 2 degrees, so quite hard to get.

So far, I'm receiving almost all TPs from 1C, in range of 11810-12092 Mhz. Signal from some of them is a bit stronger, from some - weaker, and some have very interesting effect - 1-2 second freezes/pixelisation each 8-9 second. Since sat is at very low angle, I think I'm getting neighbours DECT phone :D.

Interestingly, no trace of 1D at all. But all this is preliminary result, had no ability to fine tune signal, since heavy wind started, and no possibility to stay on roof for long.

Later, I'll try to examine receiving conditions more deeply.

It was me who asked you about Hispasat. Not a bad result for 2 degrees elevation. It would be fantastic if you could take possession of that 4.5 metre Andrew and replace your 1.5 metre dish. I would love to know if increasing the dish size is a remedy for low elevation noise. Does anyone know ???

Have you seen that 12 metre dish with your own eyes? Is it a commercial telecom dish?

By the way, the country of Georgia is very beautiful!
 
Well, for that 4.5m I have two choices - Obtaion official permission to use it (but owner is unknown), or pay $100 to guardians, to let me readjust it hiddennly at night. :)

Of course, larger is the dish, sharper is the focus, and nearby noises are cut off much more effectively, but it can't help with atmospheric interference, which becomes very prominent on such low elevated sats.

Regarding the 12 meter dish, I was able only to saw it's back side by glimpse. According to it's design, I can guess it's channel master product. This dish is located in private property (Former MMDS tv company property, now abandoned), and surrounded by trees, so it's almost impossible to come closer and check details.

Thanks for country praising, it's quite beatifull, especially for fresh, foreigner eye :) But there's one big disadvantage - here's no place, where you eyes can rest, by looking into horizon. Here, mountains are from everywhere :D
 
It's impressive that you managed to find 30W at all in such a mountaneous area. So Hispasat 1D also there is weaker than 1C. This is also the case in Greece. Probably the focus of latter is better.
 
Yes, and it was so widely believed here, that hispasat can't be received, that I never give it a try :( even in times where there was quite a lot of things to watch... :(
