Sony KVX2532U picture problems

Having a problem with the top half of the picture, it is being compressed by about 50%. Started a couple of days ago, but normally recovered, any ideas?

Have you tried the Irish toolkit yet (no offence to the Irish, it's just a funny name!!!)?

If that works it could be a loose connection to the tube...

Being half Irish I thought of that first. ;)

But banging the set has not produced any tangible results. .

I guess it's out of warranty (I think my mum's TV is the same model, pain in the arse it is!!!), so a warranty repair would be out of the question...

My guess is that the tube's gun is failing, could be time for a new TV...

Not sure about this myself, but I just googled the model and came up with this:

"Field Linearity" - C531 (680mf) - scan coupling cap (as in replace this)...

Our old sony went exactly the same way. As it was around 15 years old we used it as an excuse to buy a lovely 28" Panny widescreen telly

Hi Rolfw,

Hi, Try this (You will only access it with your DB 7000 ON)

Goto MENU...SETTINGS...SETUP.
Down to (COLOUR SYSTEM) try changing to Secam,
or one of the other Colour Systems.
See if that Helps.

Thanks BF, but this is the output from my Sky+ box, hardly use the DB7000. Have now taken the big Sony out of the loop, using the little 21" Philips.

Definitely a field problem. Frame foldover. Had it before, though not that model. Circuitry around the frame amp or possibly diode in E/W circuit.

One for Mr. Repairman I'm afraid.

Hi Rolfw,

The colour system is set to PAL and is Grayed out
when you have the Tv set, set to TERRESTRIAL Reception.

I had a RGB problem like yours with the new HDCI2000
(unstable picture).
Changed Colour System to SECAM... Problem solved.
