SSTV is currently available on a 10E feed. This is because of the voting to determine if south Sudan should split from the rest of the country and become an independent country.

Lots of colourful dancing, and some nice ethnic music being shown.

Hi l live in england & am desperately trying to get south sudan television for our tv, the only satellite l have found is the sadoun satellite which is only for US RESIDENTS ONLY. Which satellite are You talking about? l would greatly appreciate if You could give its full store name, as l am not very familiar with satellites & can't recognise the abbreviations You used.

Also if it works in the the uk ad how l get it, any info You can thanks so much. If its a no go then does anybody know where l can get south sudan television from england? Thanks :)
 
This one was only available for a few days back in January.

Not possible in Europe atm.

It will probably turn up again in July during the independence celebrations.

ok well thanks anyway Analoguesat peson. I know they can get it in usa with a "sadoun satellite" but they don't sell it in the uk :( Don't suppose You know if alternatively l can get online access to south sudan tv instead?
Or anybody else? If anybody knows how to get access to south sudan tv in the uk, whether by satellite or internet or any other form, please do post details :) l will too if l find anything ;) Thanks again for the help Analoguesat.
 
SSTV can be got in the UK....but you will need a large dish C-band setup
Its available on Arabsat 2B
here are the details:-

BUT ...I can only manage this for part of the day on a 1.8 prime focus dish..
in my opinion to receive it round the clock you would need an accurately set up dedicated C band dish and good quality lnb ..and the dish would need to be in excess of 2 mtrs ..plus an unobstructed view of 20 East

included a captured image from my archive ..taken end of last year..so I guess its down to ..how desperate you are to get this channel ..and how much you want to spend on the project..

Ah cheers VS - I hadnt realised it was on C-band - due to the dish sizes its not really very practical in the UK for most folks
 
Totally agree AS ..
Not really practical for most folk ..
..but he did seem keen ...and used the word 'desperate' ..
..so maybe he will find the resources if he really is desperate ..

Hi Vipersan thanks so much for that, ironically l had just found those exact satellite details (plus a few alternatives) from sstv's facebook page - =http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=108892842601

But yeah l am willing to spend pretty much whatever l have to lol, only problem is l don't really understand satellites & frequencies etc...is there a specific model of c-band satellites l need/are better, or will any do? Bcos l have been searching the net for them but the closest l got was things like a Maplin electronics website selling e.g a "240cm C/KU band prime focus dish antenna.......C-Band gain @4.0 GHz 38.39 dB"
It sounds complicated to Me lol, is this the right kind of thing l should be taking My pick from? I thought l'd double check on account of the complex looking technical info these satellites come with, to simplify, basically for a novice all l have to focus on is the keywords "c-band" & "dish" right? Then pick one.....or is there anything else l need to know? Thanks for all the help :)
 
Myself - I wouldn't advise you buy one of the maplins dishes - they arent very well built and have a nasty habit of distorting easily. We had one member remove his Fortec dish in plastic bin bags after one strong gale :-rofl2

They can be made to perform reasonably well, but need a lot of ongoing tender care to get the best out of them.

You are looking at the sharp end of a thousand uk pounds for a decent 6 or 8 foot dish.

Do you have room in the garden for an 8 foot dish - because you dont wall mount one of these babies.

You will certainly need planning permission for a dish this size.

The Badr 4 transmission on 12207V may be a more viable option, although I dont know what the dish size would be needed.

Is this the one you mean? If so, I'm getting it at quite a reasonable strength and quality.

BTW - you can forget about the "Sadoun Satellite" option - we cant receive the Yank satellites in Europe.

Not much to add ...as AS and Pete have pretty much covered it ..
If money is no object ..then the get the best dish you can afford ..
The large maplin dish is certainly large enough but they are a bit flimsy and a high wind will certainly attempt to distort such a large surface as the loading is considerable ..
Before you make _any_ decision on what to buy and which way to go ..
Make sure you have line of sight for 20E should you be taking the Cband route ..
Then look into planning permission before purchase ..
Keep the dish as low to the ground as possible and choose a location where preferably its going to be out of sight ..particularly of the neighbours ..
That way its more likely your planning app will be accepted ..
Also buy a quality lnb ..more advice on this I would ask for ..if and when you are secure in the knowledge that you have PP and your site and dish is chosen..
