OK guys, I am over in the USA and have been bitten badly by the "Paint your Satellite Dish" bug : )

I started off with just one Space themed satellite dish....

I JUST done my first 30" dish with a small Star Trek space ship incorporated into it (Just in time for the new movie starting on the 17th here)

I have also done a few with band names on them, but enjoy the space/satellite theme the best.

MANY more pics on my facebook page.

All the best, 90 deg. here today in Minneapolis!164980_384004615052403_1591743058_n.webp375073_383612348424963_232612220_n (1).webpCopy of Copy of Copy of IMG_20130428_150045.webpIMG_20130428_150054.webpIMG_20130428_150108.webpIMG_20130505_171602.webpIMG_20130511_132247.webpIMG_20130511_132254.webpIMG_20130428_150108.webpIMG_20130505_171602.webpIMG_20130512_180241.webpIMG_20130512_112327.webp

I sense a promotion coming on. Get your cheque (check) book out ;)

Very nice. A little better than my effort back in 1998... ^_^

No Promo Channel Hopper, I don't sell them.... well not in the UK I am from Glasgow and live in the USA now, just trying to show off the old art work : ) I like the colours Sleepy : )

And thanks Analogeuesat, as I told you I JUST painted my own 90cm dish.... will try to post pics here, or will just make a new post and someone can combine?

This one features a black hole... and a space ship..... I can't wait to get an air brush to really add fine detail to these.

Thanks again Lads!

OK I JUST finished this one, tried to add it to my previous post.... and failed.

So mods feel free to combine if needed : )

OK this is my own 90cm dish, about 6 years old, faded and dull.

Gave it a new Black Hole theme.

Not sure if Youtube links are permitted here? But I also done a quick video of the dish moving, V. Cool : )

All the best!

Pete

I like the silhouette of the USS Enterprise (or any other similar Constitution class starship) there... :)

Nice job! You should try your hobby on bigger dish, for example 2 meters :-shh

If you could come up with a dish cloaking device then that would be grand :) It would remove the need for me to get domestic planning permission to put another dish at the end of the garden...

Just tag any more pics vids etc onto the end of this thread Pete, its fine.

The latest one is excellent :)

Id love to see one loosely based on one of the Asia album covers.

That could happen : ) More lightly than me being able to find where to add another pic.

Will give their covers a look over...

Ok managed to do an Asia Dish for you, some better pictures to come in the day light.

it was going REALLY well, then I messed up the shadowing a bit, so had to bold it up a bit : (

Should give you an idea anyway, even when you mess up you can't go wrong (My motto)

They ALL look great from a distance : )

All the best.

Pete! Could you tell little bit more about technical side of your hobby? How you prepare dish, what kind of paint, method of painting, etc.?
For me (not a painter) it is not a problem to paint strait lines, but all the curves could be difficult, if I do, than result would probably look like this. Screen_08 May. 16 06.22.webp
So, when I decided to have some picture on one of my antennas (1,8m PFA), I gave it to professional aerographer who daily makes pictures everywhere, and does it for living. Of course, it coasted to have picture on dish, and much more than to buy this antenna.

Sleepy,

Have a look at this video for the method....

I sand them down, then use Scotch Brite to smooth them off. The biggest issue is around any old logos, make sure they are removed or they will show through.

Then its regular car paint from the hardware store.

This is definitely looking like a promotional thread.

<a class="" href="http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/user/176362-analoguesat/" title="">Analoguesat</a>, here are the day light Asia satellite dish pics...

<a class="" href="http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/user/175144-channel-hopper/" title="">Channel Hopper</a>, please feel free to delete anything you deem a promotion? Including the full thread : )
