Bit of a longshot this one ..
Not even sure it is still manufactured ...Cant find one listed for sale anywhere ?
This isn't a switch ..
it is a control signal amplifier.
..and is exactly what I need.
A remote device capable of amplifying the 22khz control signal generated by a PC card or stb ...
If anyone knows of a similar device please clue me in ?
otherwise ...this is the unit I'm after.
Maybe someone has on surplus to requirements ?

..or maybe someone has a schematic for similar I could build ?

Would this maybe work for your application??

Code:

Or maybe this app note could guid you for building an amp for the 22 kHZ.

Sadly not but thanks for trying ..
It's not a psu or switch I need ...
Nor an inline amplifier ...which is designed to amplify the RF/IF signal ..
What I want to do is boost the 22khz signal only ...not the RF.
I probably end up having to try and design something myself ..but am open to ideas if anyone has anything ?

This company is the UK agent for Spaun. That product is not on the current list, but maybe you could recognise something similar.

http: //teldis.co.uk/index.php/spaun-irs-product

If not I see the SN 1418 for sale in Greece, but it will cost €88 plus postage.

(I'm not sure about posting live links. I put a space after http)
Thanks for that buddy ..
A bit on the expensive side ...so I'll look at other ideas first ...but at least I now have a source...

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

How long a cable are we talking about ?

Are you sure one of those ancient Global tone switching boxes might not be of use in this instance ?

It's not the cable length that an issue CH ...
More a question of reduced signal reaching the Position box chain (Disqc 1.2)..
The more switches ...and there are a lot... the smaller the 22khz signal by the time it reaches the last one ...
Really all I need is a boost for the 22khz ...
..signal conditioning if you like..
No probs at all from set top boxes ..but sadly the TBS card puts out a smallish signal to start with..
I'll figure something out eventually...
My own fault really for having such complexity..

I would have thought changing a bias component to the final transistor of the tone circuit should boost the output of the pulse, or tweaking the low frequency cut-off filter.

You might also find one of the switches has gone a bit deaf.

Certainly a possibility CH ..
The deaf switch that is ..
Dont wanna go changing anything on the TBS card ...
too risky ....
And there is no amplification to speak of inside the positioners ..
Very basic circuitry..
If I could have got hold of a used Spaun at a reasonable price ...this may well have been good for the system ..but since I cannot ..
I'll do some switch checking ..

Thats the problem with RF signals, the more stuff you put in front of it, the less gets to the final destination.

Have you thought about the possibility of signal bleed-over?? Too many connections (switches) could cause a signal leakage somewhere, 22 KHz is very low frequency, it can escape even the best system.

If you have an oscilloscope you could make a sensor loop antenna and look for a leak, this leaked signal can be picked up again after an amp, this would/could put it out of phase from the main and cause a drop in signal.

How many receivers are connected to this system?? one could be interfering with another receivers 22 kHz control signals, or mixing with them, is the system well grounded?

There are about 5 receivers and one PC card , Terry ...but only one on a time ....thus any of them can take full control of any dish , positioner or LNB...(priority based)
