can anybody tell me why i have received SPICE PLATINUM in the clear for the last 2 months with only a dragon cam and no card of any sort.

It won't be in the clear, more likely that the software in the Dragon is decrypting it, if you pull the CAM out, then you will get a black screen.

cams, such as dragon cam, can contain keys embedded in their software. if you update the software you can update the keys too and get more life out of it.

spice plat is included as part of the TPS package these days, which too you should be able to access, and that's why you get it. enjoy it whilst you can, it won't last for ever.
