I have now fixed my Channel Master 1.2m dish into place. I've managed to squeeze it in round the side of my house so that is out of sight from everyone bar one neighbour opposite and their view from an upstairs window. ;) Some initial testing yesterday determined how far back I could place it and still get a signal.

The dish is on a fixed azel mount pointing at 7W and I am using an Inverto black ultra single lnb. I used a NPRM with a 3" pole which I shortened by 200mm. The NPRM is mounted on plastic packers and bolted to the concrete path. There is a gate at the back of the dish that enables me access.

The other photo shows my dish "farm" (more like a small holding:D) in it's entirety! The other two dishes are; fixed for 28.2 E and motorised pointing at 61W.

What's going on with the dish on your roof? Looks like it's dented. Love the Channel Master installation!

Edit: oh, it's two dishes on the roof! Is that the 1.2m on the roof too?

Nah, none taken. I didn't mean for it to be an "end of" test :)

No CJ, that's the 1.0m Channel Master I've been making my comparisons with.

Ahh right. It's where I want my 1m to go too. Do you think a 1.2m would be too much for over the gutter install?

My install has been up two years and, so far, I've not had any problems. The whole setup with the pole and brackets is over engineered and bloody solid. But, when it gets very windy it sure does rattle around a lot and can be bloody noisy. Luckily my next door neighbour's bedrooms are on the other side of the house. A 1.2m CM dish would be an easy swap over for me on the over the roof mount, but that extra size would probably be even noisier and it's a lot more dish to catch the wind up there. I definitely won't put a 1.2 up there, so as to not cause any problems .:) I'm near the coast and it can sure blow round here, I don't know how sheltered it is where you live, that would be the defining factor for me.

A neat setup! Reminds me a little of my 1.2m CM dish installed between the garden shed and a fence which no one can see.

I do not like setups nobody can see, but unfortunately, from time to time we should do that.

Unfortunately in the UK you're "not allowed" to have more than 2 dishes
without planning permission, 1 a maximum of 60cm, the other a maximum of 100cm.

Yes, unfortunately not everyone likes them and I don't want to upset the neighbours unnecessarily. At least I can see my dishes easily. ;)

Very nice! I also want to put my 1m up on a beefy 36v motor on the same spider leg brackets. Glad to hear they are strong!

Very nice! I also want to put my 1m up on a beefy 36v motor on the same spider leg brackets. Glad to hear they are strong!

My advice for the spider leg brackets would be;

1) Don't use the ones from Sat Sup Str, they are expensive, the spacings for the holes on the feet don't work for brick spacings very well and the coating comes off too easy. They are strong though and heavy! (I have a pair on my 28.2E dish!)
2) Get your own made, probably still be expensive but you can get round the problems I state above with inox finish and larger feet with better spacings for the holes.

Also I have another bracket at the top fascia level for the motorised dish, that makes a big difference. :) I know you have a jaeger 1224 motor like me, I rate them very highly. Bloody hard to get hold of them nowadays though. :(

I already have the spider legs in the garage along with a 2m long 3inch pole. It all came with the 1224 motor I bought 2nd hand. Interesting to know about its issues - I did wonder how to adjust the pole to get it vertical with those types of legs, something that isn't an issue with the traditional TK brackets. Will need to think about it...

Also, unsure which motor I will use as I also bought that 36v h-to-h motor doing the rounds on eBay. Sadly it doesn't look like it will go on a 3inch pole without modifications...

That's what I did, you can either pack off the wall (washers behind the feet) or when the leg is fixed to the wall, pack off the face.

Usually polar-mounts have their own adjustments, so it is not so critical to have main pole plumb.

I'm reading all this with interest as I'm now losing some Satellites on my 1.1m due to relentless tree growth, so am thinking of repositioning, possibly on a wall rather than the ground.
