Former football stars offer support to Paul Gascoigne after he is released from hospital.

The ex-England star, 40, had been in hospital since being detained last month after an incident at a hotel.

He was released from a Darlington hospital on Friday and is now believed to be staying with his father.

Former international team-mate Peter Shilton said: "Hopefully, now, he can get himself back on track."

Police were called to the Hilton Hotel in Gateshead on 20 February where Gascoigne is said to have made staff and guests feel "threatened" by his behaviour.

He was taken to the Middleton St George Hospital for treatment.

Following his release he is believed to be staying at his father's house in Dunston, Gateshead.
