Strange sockets in new flat

I am just looking for a bit of quick advice. I have just moved into a flat and on the wall in two of the rooms there are the usual sockets for connecting the UHF TV aerial and FM aerial. These both work as expected.
But next to those two sockets on the wall, there is another marked SAT that has the same connection as the sockets for the UHF/FM.
I am totally puzzled by this - in my old flat the SAT socket looked totally different and the cable to the back of the Sky box screwed on to it.
Can anyone shed any light on what this SAT socket is for? I don't see how I can connect to the LNB in socket on the Sky box.
Any help would be appreciated.
 
Well it would be unusual for them to use a standard coax style outlet plate for satellite, but not entirely unknown. so best thing to do is try it. All you have to do is make up a cable with an F connector on one end, and a standard coax plug on the other, if you already have a cable, then you can get an adapter which screws into an F connector.
 
If it does turn out to be satellite signals appearing on the outlet plate, you can change it to the correct type (f type) or get an engineer to change it. This will give you a secure connection.
