Hello.

I've got a echostar dsb-770 FTA.
I read in many forums that it's possible to patch it with strong software.

I have been looking for info about this for a really long time but can't get it, is it possible to watch some encrypted channels without a card or not?

Some people say that no encryption has been hacked, but there's still a lot of talk about cams and stuff.
Is there any complete newbie guide for this?

And please answer this question: Can I patch my echostar receiver with strong software, update the keys, and somehow watch any encrypted channels on hotbird 13E or sirius 4.8E?

Thanks

You can forget the Nordic stuff on Sirius immediately - thats Videoguard and totally secure.

SOME of the Hotbird channels are available on patches - eg TPS comes and goes (although will go for good by the end of December!)

Actually I´m more intrested in russian and ukrainian channels, as well as englishspeaking movie channels..

Better luck there?

Most of the the Ukrainian channels on Sirius are fta. The few coded ones are also videoguard and therefore secure

This site has links to the various vesions of software supplied by the various versions of the Strong company.

hi, my friend

It is very dangerous to replace the original software of such specific receiver with another manufacturer software . I have a strong FTA reciver and by mistake I did replace the software with another Strong receiver soft . although the two sots was for the same manufacturer name but the result was disater. I was obliged to download the original company soft and setted every thing up back again . My advice not to make this risk . hope you best of luck

What about PowerVu encryption and viacess 2.5 / 2.6 ?
Are those possible to get without a card?

Yes I know there are such risks when patching receivers, and thanks for the warning. But this echostar 770 fta is kind of old receiver and not too expensive so it shouldn't be a disaster if it in it worst case would broke and I wouldn't be able to fix it...

Nope PowerVu is 100% secure requires special receiver registered on their main subscription server in order to work.

Viaccess 2.5 and 2.6 are both secure AFAIK

So what systems are decryptable after all?

viacess2.3 (just about dead now) some cryptoworks, some nagra2.

The PowerVu stuff on 5E are downlinks to cable system headends and not possible to watch without an PowerVu decoder authorised to decrypt them (not possible to get unless you steal one from a cable headend site!)

To be honest theres almost nothing open on 5E so forget that slot
