Thinking about getting one of these (as a quattro) but would like further info on it. Has anyone seen reviews of the SMW LNBs? Thinking about getting one for Astra 2E, but at just under 800 euro I would like to do a bit of reading before taking the plunge.

My understanding is that dish size trumps a high-end LNB most of the time. Are you already at the limits of dish practicality and think that a more sophisticated LNB will pull in the signal?

Yes 2.7m at mo. Don´t have the funds, space or understanding neighbours for a bigger dish.

I guess if you have a 2.7m already in place they'd better be fairly understanding.

Yes CH, was quoted by SMW - 728.93 Euros, plus 36.00 delivery, then VAT on top!

Its like marmite, some are ok with it some not, but hey no planning permission needed here ( as one of them found out when they called the old bill) and I have now been here long enough to have been here with my dish longer than quite a few of my neighbours.

What have you been using as an LNB up until now? Is the LNB you want to buy intended for a dish of this size? There has to come a point when you say "It's becoming too difficult/expensive and my children can live without CBeebies" :) Or you take a different tack - VPN and IPlayer, for example.

If it is offset then the overall height is more than 2.7metres. You could try installing a 3.8m offset on its side, which would probably be no higher, and the neighbours wouldn't notice.

Unfortunately it fails two of my criteria - price and lack of space (larger dish won´t fit where I have the current one.

How long is the cable run and is it of sufficient quality?

Hairybadger, I have short runs of good quality cable. I get all the stations I want at the mo, even ch5 (except in cloudy weather). I am just looking to the future, just want to squeeze as much signal out as I can. I have tried every branded quattro LNB and many non branded. Integrated and C120 with various feed horns, before settling on my present setup. I was hoping to find out about the SMW AB LNBs just to see if their high price reflected a better build quality with less noise induced by the LNB. Unlike other units which I have happly gambled 20 - 100 pounds to try, this is a big gamble!

That SMW LNB combo is some weight - over 1.6Kg. Hope your dish can bear it
