Been checking out longstockings thread stating he put the K bracket at the top and t at the bottom. Looking all over the net opinion is divided, i'm putting a TD88 on a TM2600 motor onto a 1.75" scaffold pole around 4 to 5 foot long mounted on the back of the garage wall. Just want to know which bracket i should put at the top.

What, you mean we are your last port of call, not the first? :-crying

Will the Motor be situated between the brackets, or will it be above the top bracket?

(As it's a garage, so only has an 8 or 9 foot high wall, I'm guessing the latter)

GBsat guy on youtube put the t at the top, i understood the t always went at the bottom but for extra strength put a k at the bottom instead aswell as the top.

The K is designed to take the weight of the rig, the T for stabilisation in the horizontal plane, I will often use two K brackets for added stability, but if only a standard pair, then I put the T at the top, that's how they were designed to be used, same as the old spider brackets.

Plus one for T at t'top (Only 'cos I stirred myself to go out and see what I'd done all those years ago!).

The dish is going at the top of the pole above both brackets (over the garage roof).

In which case, Rolf's solution (an extra K) would be optimal, but otherwise, T at t'top.

If cost is critical, an 88cm dish should be ok with just a pair, I'd have thought, in your circumstances

the k bracket has more fixing points so it will be harder to get from the wall all the weight is on the top bracket but the choice is yours :-)

Sorry Martin, no offence at all,i cant see it making a huge difference either way, but being a novice on pole installation - i wanted to get the info before i went down a possible wrong route.

T at the top, K at bottom. For larger dish work, fit two K's.

youve got 2 course of bricks holding the bracket if you use the k only 1 course using the t, if your garage has an apex and your installing near the top of it be careful m8.

No apex Martin and the t bracket will be mounted a fair few courses down from the top.

Got a result with the pole, went to work Monday morning -scoured around the garage where i work and next to the gas bottles for welding was this cut off section of scaffold pipe. Asked the boss if he wanted it,he said no and he had more if i wanted them, So that was a freebie, cleaned it up yesterday and rust protected it today. Plus my brackets came today, they could have come anytime up to the 7th of May so thats champion. And to top it all the motor arrived at work today about 11ish so now all i need is time.

K at the top and T at the bottom. K brackets are stronger. Two K brackets (top and middle) are a good idea if the dish and motor is being mounted high above the top bracket, to clear obstacles in the line of sight for example, or if installing a large heavy dish.

My TD88 and motor is mounted on our chimney with a heavy duty custom made bracket using thick stainless steel plates front and back which are studded though the brickwork.

So much conflicting advice, although i'm inclined to go with the advice of an installer in a post further up.

I think the problem is many people put the K at the bottom and T at the top because it looks right, without thinking for a minute that the K bracket is actually stronger and the top is where all the weight/load is being taken.
