rolfw when you drill the holes

do you drill them at an angle in to the brick so that if a strong gust of wind wouldn't pull out the fixings as it would have to move the mount up and out ?

My gut reaction is that drilling the holes at angles would make them weaker, as stress on the fixing could cause fractures in the brick on the side closest to the edge of the wall, if you see what I'm saying. The result being not that the fixings pull out, but that the brick below them crumbles.

The trick is to use fixings which work in the brick work you have. I use sleeve anchors for my medium sized dishes, usually Fischer ones, but in some softer brickwork, they will not hold properly, so I then use the more expensive Rawlbolts, which have better expansion points.

36" brackets + scaffold tube:

in what order would you recommend brackets from top to bottom: K1 K2 T? And would be bracket installation order? K1 T K2?

Yes, always mount the top first, as it is easier then to set the others using an improvised plumbline, use Ks at top and bottom, with the T in the middle for a little more lateral support.

Don't really know, they are fine for something like a Gilbertini 1.25m, but once you start looking at 36" brackets (there are two types, use the ones with the extra lateral bracing), then perhaps a 1.2m Channel master or equivalent on a motor would be about the max, that is a long way from the wall. ;)

yes i was thinking of a andrews 1metre with 1224 supermount on 18" using 2 sets of them

i currently get 30east ish to 30west(maybe more) on a 14" L shape bracket below the roof with 90cm dish

Won't you need a 3" diameter pole for that motor? If that's case, then you will probably need to widen the holes is the brackets, as well as get bigger v-bolts.

yes was going to mod the brackets, but at the minute i'm just considering my options as looking into a few things, gregorian dishes, andrews dishes, 36volt systems etc

had another look today and i can get to about 36east and to 40west on current bracket so 18"s will be spot on i think
