From a basket of key-rings in the local charity shop, I have acquired this for the princely sum of 20p.

From the date on the back and various web-sites, it is almost certainly a P1 model from 1996 ( though it has a Bandai 1997 chassis stamp).

A quick clean out of the debris left by dud batteries and a couple of replacements, and she runs.

However, after nearly two weeks or so, the egg avatar on the display is still bouncing up and down, but not much else.

Is there anything that is required to make this thing 'hatch'? or is it a question of waiting a bit more ?

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

Press the buttons until something happens... :D

I had a penguin shaped thing when I was in school (about 98 or 99) that was like a Tamagotchi, but more irritating, dunno what I did with it, but I'm pretty sure it involved a hammer... :p

Thanks (I think).

Sitting on it hasn't helped.

Pressing the buttons doesn't do much at all unless there is a specific sequence.

Hey, it's quiet at the moment, and at 20p, I'm not out of pocket.

Thanks, the reset button works, and the bouncing egg reappears.

I trust buttons a) b) and c) are left to right on the unit.

If so, then button b) on mine must be on the blink as the clock doesn't appear when pressed.

I am convinced CH could take it back to the charity shop and extract 30 P from them now that it is functioning correctly
