Tape restore problems

To cut a long story short I'm trying to recover a couple of SQL server databases by sticking a SCSI controller in the SQL Server machine so I can connect the AIT tape drive. (It was originally on the domain controller but that's the long story). I have several versions of SIDE 2935 LVD controllers but can't find any drivers to load under W2003 or Vista. I've downloaded a couple that people say will work in 2003 but they all come say not suitable. Any suggestions? Thanks

The date of the tape drive will tell you it probably got superceded a decade or so ago.

I would consider using an older o/s on a competely separate PC, and fit the tape drive on that (assuming the pin cofiguration is OK).

I have a feeling you might need to revert back to Win 98 or NT.

LOL, reminds me of the situation a decade or so ago where I had to keep an IBM PS/2 going just so that I could use the helical tape backups that used an MCA (remember that!) adaptor.

The misery persists......Brought the Win 2003 server out of storage which created the backup tapes but so far it has stubbornly refused to restore the SQL backups. Having tried many different combinations of settings in Backup Exec it immediately fails every time saying file or folder not found.

No, I am listening, but when XP didn't do it I thought that the setup that wrote the tape would be the best way to go despite this meaning that I have to have a blade server next to where I am working, the noise from which disrupts my already suspect thinking process
