The new TBS 6925 PC card will have blind scan in both DVB-S2 and DVB-S. As far as I can make out, it is due to be released some time in October.

Moreover, the company has recently switched to 'TBSviewer' software, which is an OEM version of DVBviewer. So Transedit, diseqc, etc etc should work with the card.

There is no lower symbol limit given, the maximum in QPSK and 8PSK is the standard 45 MSps.

The frequency offset to compensate for drifting LOs etc is ±10MHz which is the standard on receivers, my Hauppauge card could be rather fussy here (though not as much with the Inverto Black Ultra!).

There is no indication of price as yet, but the other models are half the price of Hauppauge! And with proper software - how do Hauppauge get away with their diabolical 'software'?!
:-lan2 :-comp:-lang

It looks very promising, I look forward to seeing how fast the blind scan is. If it is similar to set top receivers, then I think it would be a winner.

Thanks for that, will have to check that one out. Could be a winner if the low SR is as good as the Hauppauge.

Their other cards in the range are 1 - 45 Msps, so I expect it will be the same.

Modern architectures are modular, so I expect they will have just squeezed in the blind scan chip on the existing design. Performance should be similar to the other models, it is the blind scan that is the unknown quantity at this time.

Searched around their site a bit more.

It now confirms 1 - 45 Msps on this handy comparison chart _http://www.tbsdtv.com/english/product/images/6920%20VS%206921.JPG

I also noticed it is diseqc 2.x compatible so people with dish farms, wave frontiers, Maximum T85, other dishes with multi-LNB setups, etc etc, can cascade switches to their hearts delight.

THey've replaced the Conexant demod chip with the Trident one -

Since NXP acquired Conexants business in that area, and Trident has acquired NXP, I'll guess it is a re-badging exercise. The recession has made the sector rather volatile hence the takeovers. The loss of the Conexant brand name is perhaps not ideal as it is so well established and viewed positively.

Performance should therefore be the same or better than the Conexant.

I hope they output the BER and SNR (or referenceable Viterbi) to the software, as it is still extremely irritating that the Hauppage does not but the Technisat cards do (I only have a Hauppague).

The TBS 6921 PCI-E will be the PCIe version.

Very useful if you need the PCI slots for other PCI cards (DVB-t, sound cards, etc), or have run out of space already.

Apparently the TBS 6921 DVB-S2 PCI-E with blind scan will be released in a few weeks.

They are testing the Windows and Linux drivers at the moment.

Symbol rates will be 1 - 45 Msps.

I saw the update for Tbs 6925 , which symbol rates is up to from 200Ksps to 45Msps. That sounds amazing

Is the TBS 6925 card MPEG-4 capable?

I don't see anything about that in the info.

It uses the computer CPU for MPEG2 and H.264 MPEG4 decoding.

I have one winging its way over from the US now. I'll do a comparison with the Hauppauge ( tuner sensitivity. min/max SR etc.) when it lands.

The 6925 works very well with CrazyScan and BLScan. I've locked a low SR of 816 so far, can't seem to find anything higher than 33000 here in NA. Unlike the other TBS offerings, this is the only card that detects 16APSK & 32APSK signals.

Still waiting for mine. Comes from HK but ordered via buydvb.

Any ACM streams in NA with viewable channels starman?

I got mine from BuyDvb also, I don't know of any other place to get them. As for ACM streams, there are quite a few but none so far with video. I use CrazyScan->TSReader->VLC. Occasionally VLC will start to show video on an ACM stream for a few seconds then crash.

That's interesting. There's an ACM mux on Atlantic Bird 1 12718H with some FTA Italian channels, mostly encrypted on 13E. I'll try those when I get the card.

Please post your findings, I am interested. I can see Atlantic Bird 1 from here(barely) but only a few signals are beamed in my direction, most is towards Europe.

Hi Starman, I see you have an interesting variety of sat cards to chose from, how do you rate each of them? I've got the Prof 7301 which seems like a great performer but of course I don't have anything to compare it against, how does it stack up against the others you have?

Hi aceb, I really like the Prof cards, they seem to work with all dvb applications I've tried. Something I noticed about both my Prof cards is they are very fast at channel changing...they also work very well with CrazyScan and BLScan but of course they aren't 16APSK & 32APSK capable. I bought the TBS 8921 recently and have been disappointed with its blind scan, it is very slow and misses a lot of transponders. The TBS 8920 is an older card, no blind scan, I don't use it much anymore.
Lately I"ve been using the TBS 6925 mostly, it is a hobbiest card, pricey, but if you like chasing 16&32APSK signals it can do the job.
The 7301 you have is a very good choice.:)
