I have one TBS5925 from years and I'm very happy with it.
However, now I would like to explore DVB-S2X frequencies, so TBS5930 could be a good upgrade but I heard someone struggling with it. Not understand exactly what are the issues.
Anyone deeply tested this new USB device? What are real differences with 5925? And which possible problem, if any? Thanks.

Right, but my comparison was made on the device that I own now.
Apart DVB-S2X, do you believe that TBS5930 means better performances compared to 5925?
I do not want to gain S2X loosing something else or having some problems.
Also, I thought to 5590, it has DVB-T2 too, but ASI reaches only 120 mbps and it is very expensive. Maybe 5930 could be a good solution. What do you think? Thanks.

According to what I read, the 5930 used new m88rs6060-based TBS cards like 6902SE, 6904SE

Did anybody confirm m88rs6060 can actually lock dvbs2x? It appears to be loading m88rs6000 firmware which doesn't support s2x.
Also, max symbol rate is unknown, but quite possible it can't do 60Ms/s

Here is a scan with the 6902se card, having m88rs6060, at 33.1E, where it locks the S2X muxes

Reading the specs of the cards, it seems that 5930 and 5590 detect S2X, but both have symbol rate range between 1 and 45 ms.
Instead, in the 5927 (similar to my 5925) range is between 0.2 and 45, lower and lower.
Maybe the newer cards can not detect very low SR transponders like digital radios or similar. Anyone made any test?

Right, the correct fw is loaded. I ve seen somewhere attempts to load rs6000 fw with rs6060 card. Complete bullshit.

Can you check what is max SR ? Open m88rs6060_drv.c in your cloned media directory and search for 45000, should appear near the end of the file, replace with something like 70000 or 80000, rebuild and reinstall driver.

I understand that your suggestion refers to fw and drv in Linux. If so, thanks.
I'm now on Windows.

It is no longer necessary to exchange the 70000 or 80000 rate symbol for the Montage m88rs6060, as the chip specification is between 1~45Msymb/s. By the way, I would have noticed by now if this were during the tests I did on different satellites or frequencies.
And to be honest, I don't think it's worth forcing the application to get a high symbol rate. It's not worth doing extra work that would jeopardize my system stability.
Besides, the quality of this version of Montage consists of something else (I have written about it on other occasions) then this limited symbol rate.

Sometimes the specs are in a "safe" range, meaning that the demod would work guaranteed within that range with no strain. However, there are numerous reports that in action these ranges are wider. It wouldn't hurt in this case to increase the range for the montage tuner from 0 to 60000, especially in the lower range I'm pretty certain it can perform well.
