I thought that was restricted to people who could prove they couldn't receive it via a terrestrial antenna. Has that changed?

No. And I don't know where the 180€ price came from. Also it is a proprietary box.

So do you receive every Spanish TDT channel including all the regional ones or is it tied to postcode only giving the national channels plus your local ones?

I'm very interested in these receivers. So do you get the likes of TV3, 33, K3/3XL, 3/24 (Catalonia) and TV Canaria, TV Canaria 2 etc.?

Do you only get the channels that are meant for your area?

From what I've read I believe you can get your regional TVE opt outs on La 1 and La 2 via it. Is this correct? There must be a fair bit on there are there are 3 terrestrial multiplexes on each transponder (I think that the feeds that the TDT Box tunes into are also used to feed the terrestrial network).

I'd be really grateful for any more information!

Thanks.

I know that TV3, 33, K3/3XL, 3/24 are no longer available to all who have TDT via terrestrial - they were removed from our transmitters in Valencia about 6 months ago - usual regional bickering - perhaps only available in Cataluna, just like Canal 9 is only in Valencia, and Telesur is only in Malaga, for example (good site is tdt1.com).
So you may find some of the regional channels are not on the "TDT Para satellite" system.
I have not seen any regional opt outs on TVE yet.
As far as I konw, yes, Hispasat does the feeds for the terrestrial system.

Yes I heard about that actually! The Generalitat told Acció Cultural país Valencià that they had to shut the relays down or be fined extortionately every week the signals stayed on air because they weren't licenced. It seems double standards really seeing as there are numerous pirate FM stations no-one does anything about.

Spanish broadcast law states that the autonomous channels shouldn't be available outside their respective communities anyway so disgruntled Valencian viewers haven't got very far in getting TV3 back.

It's rather silly, as TV3 has been available in the Valencian Community for the best part of 30 years...

It costs a lot less to run a radio station so they are much harder to catch. The pirate FM transmitter you are listening to is more than likely just a black box that that cost less than a couple of hundred €uros sitting on the roof of a tower block plugged into a light fitting or similar. It's just a repeater (receiving from some obscure frequency at very low power) and there is no connection between it and the person running the radio station. When it is found the station goes of air for a few hours until the activation signal is sent out to another repeater (that is already in place somewhere) to start transmitting.

Sorry, forgot to add - there should be opt-outs for news every weekday at 14:00 on La 1 - "Informativo Territorial".

Maybe on terrestrial where they have the regional optouts, but unlikely on satellite.

No, I think that the TVE opt-outs are on TDT Sat at least, if not the Autonomous channels.

The transponders on Hispasat carry at least 20 full TDT multiplexes which is more than enough for all the national ones plus one for each TVE regional edition.

Hi Thor,

So for €180 you get the receiver and card. Is it some proprietary box or just standard kit?
Also I wonder what kind of lifespan such a setup will have before say the card expires and needs renewing?
Which channels would I be able to receive with this?
