Technomate 5402hd m3, LNBF error

Hi Guys,

I have received the Technomate 5402hd m3 sent to me kindly by @TJExcalibur.
It is however proving hard to setup.
The setup before we start a standard sky setup on a fixed dish.
On booting the receiver for the first time it tried to search for a motor to go to 30 west, this failed for obvious reasons then displayed LNBF on the led panel and froze the receiver, no button press would do anything, so hard switch off.
I then flashed the original firmware using serial cable and @william-1 channel list, but the same behavior was also happening abet a different initial satellite it was trying to look for on a motor.
I then boot the receiver with no coax to see if i can get into the menu, I can and I manage to turn off the motor setting but the receiver is not detecting a signal at all. I know my coax and connections are good in other receivers.
Has anyone come across the LNBF error before? the TM support website says it's to do with the short circuit protection in the box. Any reasons why it couldn't work on my fixed setup / hardware?

I forgotten to mention I did this option by pressing one of the buttons on boot up and selecting factory reset, it just asked me my language but no change to the lnb problem.

Think you might need to let the box do a full boot to the main screen, and then go back into the menus and do the reset from there.

If you have a second (Sky ?) dish, or even a spare LNB and some cable, try running it up on there to check it is not the existing install that has a fault.

Overcurrent could be damp/water in the cable/connectors as well.

I have since done this with no change. it has cleared all channels out but still showing LNBF. Next step to try another line.

I tried it before it left here but used the 2nd LNB of my motorised setup so it never went through the motor.

I have tried a second sky setup and the TM lnb I have on 19.2 but still the same lnbf message.

What if the receiver is started without any LNB connected ?

Can you also try turning off the LNB power in the menus ?

As it has been factory reset it says no channels.
Press menu, Motorized Setting is set to off. Both in this menu and Satellite Setup regardless of LNB power on or off the decibel meter shoots up in a red bar every few seconds, it may be checking for a signal, unknown if this is normal.

That's "absolutely normal" in my experience with my two TM5402 M3's

I have no idea what is actually happening at those times, but I have a "vague suspicion" that it be something like routine "are you there?" checks on the presence of the motor/ LNB &/or DiSEqC switch at the other end of the cable.

That does suggest there is a fault in the receiver.

Given that it might thus actually be faulty anyway, could you risk attaching the coax WITHOUT powering down the box first in order to see if that has any different result?

Procedure performed with an isolation switch, a-b type switch for this experiment, but same result goes to lnbf instantly.

Do you have the correct LNB type (single/universal/OCS) and it's LNB frequency (LNB oscillator freq) set right for your setup??? (best guess)

And I would connect directly to the LNB without anything else in the way, (no motor /switch or anything else, just a direct coax) as a test.

Question 1 awnser is yes, universal, correct frequency.

Question 2 yes done already.

Conclusion I think it's "had it" like @jeallen01 says.

Some universal LNB's require 22 KHz on or off to get to one end of the band or the other, have you tried the 22 KHz settings???

It can always be repaired. It could be as simple as a piece of copper braid that has made its way through one of the air vents. A toothbrush might fix the problem

Only a few screws secure the top of a 5402 - very quick & easy to remove it to take a look.
