Please be gentle with me, I am totally new to satellite having just switched from cable. I have a Technomate 6800HD, only had one day.....This is connected to a communal rooftop dish aimed at Astra 28e I think. Unfortunately I have no choice other than to use that dish. Signal is strong so could be worse.

A lot of the channels come up as "No Audio" or scrambled etc, after a bit of searching I see darkman mentioned a lot, but the most common source to obtain darkman files, the forum is not accepting new members, so no access to files section. Plus i dont want to mess things up, so thought best ask those in the know.

Can anyone help me get this up and running properly please, also can i do the updates by usb as opposed to rs32?

Hi,

You don't need any Darkman files, any firmware upgrades you might need are on the Technomate website.

You need to check that your transponder list is up to date, and do a rescan.

Yes, USB can be used.

Welcome to the forum.

For reference, files/patches can be uploaded via a null modem cable or USB pendrive but there's only N2 Digi TV package open at this time and that will be ending soon, besides you'd need a dish receiving 1W signals.

As above, recommend you try a rescan as you may have an out of date Astra2 transponder list :)

Thanks for the swift response. I noted that my system picks up 28.2e, 23.5e, 19.2e, I assume the one i need is 28.2e, I did rescan yesterday but still the same. Unfortunately not allowed to erect a dish here, hence using the rooftop one

Yes, it's Astra 2 at 28.2E you need. You'll only be able to pick up the free to air channels, BBC, most ITV, Sky News, shopping channels, etc, without a Sky sub.

Have a look at this list for the free channels (with a light cream background):
