I have just purchased the receiver and are puzzled by its ability not to record in terrestial using the USB PVR!

When on terrestial and I want to record, say Channel Five then at the same time view another terrestial channel, this appears to be not possible!

Also noticed when attempting to do this, that a few of the other terrestial channels are greyed out on the channel display list.

Ok, I am aware that recording and watching a satellite channel is not possible as I am only using one LNB on 19.2E. Recording terrestial, then switching to satellite seems to work.

My 20 yr old VCR allowed recording and viewing another channel. Why not this seemingly all singing and dancing expensive machine?

Have I missed somthing?

Don't know the spec of the Technomate but if it doesn't have twin terrestrial tuners then you cannot record one terrestrial and watch another at the same time.

The spec says it has only one terrestrial tuner, so as Topper says that is why you can't watch and record different channels.

Your 20 yr old VCR would have been the same, you would have watched TV using your TV and recorded using your VCR. That is what you need to do now with your TM.

Will this suggestion work for me better???

As I am only using a HDMI cable from receiver to TV. If I put aloop in the Sat Receiver, then use the TV to choose an alternative input source. This should get around the problem for me to watch another terrestial channel..........

Yes, if you plug an aerial in to your TV you should then get all the Freeview SD channels on your TV independantly from your TM box (assuming you have a good signal).

From the specs I have seen his TV doesn't have a freeview tuner so could prove difficult

Having said that I have since found a review that says it does so perhaps that is the answer

Yes, you could go buy yourself a separate HD Terrestrial tuner if your TV doesn't have a DTT tuner in it. The aerial input could either be looped through or split depending on what connections are available and the DTT signal level.

If your 20 year old tv had no tuner you wouldn't have been able to record and watch another channel.
