Hi guys,

I bought this motor new in Summer 2015 and today when trying to move from 7E to 13E, the motor won't move. I have a red LED light on the motor itself so there is power at least, its not completely dead but all of sudden it's decided it doesn't want to move. I'm surprised as I don't really move the motor on a daily basis, just a couple of times a week (sometimes not even that) and even then its no more than 3 times in one day - so can it really be worn out already? The listing on Amazon for this model says it can cope with more than 15 moves a day.

Is there a chance to save it or shall I bin it and start looking for a replacement? (Ideally I wouldn't want to do the 2nd as it would mean getting an installer out to take the dish down and put the new one up - I tried and failed at doing it myself before :p)

Buy a Stab100 H to H they cost more but are worth it,

My 1st Stab100 lasted 10 years & I move my 2 dishes about 30 to 50 times a day sometimes,

Some of the earlier TM motors had Acetyl Gears later issues had Metal gears & lasted longer so I am told,
The DarkMotor is worth considering as well as it is a bit cheaper that the Stab,

So it looks like you will need a Installer to fit the new motor get an Installer that is a CAI approved installer for Motorised dishes as most only fit fixed mini dishes & bluff their way into a Motor Install that requires highly skilled motorised dish installer.

Find the motors instructions,,,,,,,, then try to do the motor reset procedure to see if this helps.

Sorry if this is a silly question but in resetting the motor will it reset the tracking of the arc?

Don't know about the TM2300, but is there a "reset" button-press sequence in the manual to "factory reset" it? If so then I would try it.

No that is controlled mechanically with the dish Declination ect.

A lot of H-H DiSEqC Motors are reset by inserting a probe (straightened out Paper Clip) into a small hole adjacent to one of the Manual buttons under the casing.

Switch to DiSEqC 1.2 go to motor Control try 1st delete limit,
If this does not work then reset the system then recalculate & Goto reference,
Now go back to USALS DiSEqC 1.3 if you use this.

All motors appear to be crap these days. I havea Stab 100, supposed to be the best but the slack is terrible. Had to replace it with

I have had a Stab 100 for 2 years and the backlash is very bad. It came from a reputable dealer so I doubt its a clone. I don't think they make anything decent anymore, its all down to price. Pity because people will pay for good quality instead of replacing items.

I got my Stab motors direct from the Italian Manufacturer no backlash with mine.

I owe you a pint sir, following your steps exactly has sprung the motor back to life!

Have been moving it east and west to see if there are any signs of malfunctioning but it's been spot on. I have a solid green light on the motor which can only be good news :)

May be it is a clone, I will have a good look today. I can move the shaft back and forth slightly by hand and it judders in the wind.

Same here.....had my Stab HH120 for donkeys years.....faultless and the only times things have been amiss have been my fault.

I connected the Stab 100 to the receiver. Flashed a new image, ensured no limits were set. Set up a tuner and did a manual move to West. Fine, moved to the motor limit and stopped. On East it moved to the limit but then reversed back to 0 degrees.

Now that sounds like a receiver software fault what receiver are you using when you mentioned re-flashing the image ? I see you have an M3 that will work with the motor.

Gigablue 4k and its the same with 3 images. even tried Openvix 5. I will dig out my old Technomate and try that.

I dug out the TM 5402 and connected the Stab HH100 to that. Same problem, moves to West motor limit OK and stops. Move to East limit and when it gets there it reverses and goes back to 0 degrees. It also sounds a bit whiny and erratic. I checked and it has a 2 year guarantee, got it in Aug 2017.
We will see if they stick to the guarantee and who pays the postage.

I hope you get a good result.

@Channel Hopper has been over here this afternoon and spent quite some time setting up the TD110 with the TM5402 M3, and he found that that Rx show some very "odd" characteristics when changing channels and moving from sat to sat. I'm not very clear as to his "conclusions" but I hope he can make suitable comments tomorrow.
