Technomate TM-2300 not moving anymore :(

Why tomorrow ?

From what I could deduce, without resetting both the receiver and motor to factory conditions, the M3 does not have a stable version of firmware, and the changes made to the individual satellite positions over the months/years have added errors into the database, with the motor wondering which way to move each time it is given an instruction.

Some channels stored on the same satellite cause the motor to move, which is characteristic of a failure of the memory however it would not be able to prove without erasing everything and starting again.

Being "generous" with your time! - go right ahead tonight and comment now as I too would appreciate understanding more of what the TM "does/does not do", being far less experienced than yourself (as was clearly demonstrated today!),!
 
I have no experience of the M3, nor William's channel list.

I hope the results after I visited are slightly better than when I arrived though.

My Stab HH100 fault is the same with the 3 receivers I tried and a couple of different images. As per Stab instructions it is preferable not to set limits in the receiver software and I am not using sat positions to move the motor. Set the box on positioner and manually move east to west. When reaching west limit the motor stops. When reaching east limit the motor reverses and a bit jerkily moves back to zero.
 
I assume you are using DiSEqC 1.2and not 1.3 in the receiver setup/operation.

1.2 but even using it on the bench with no dish and in positioner set up the Stab 100 goes to west and stops but when moved to east it reverses and goes to 0 degrees. Already the seller is saying it must be connected to a USALS receiver etc to work. I believe i am going to get some hassle.
 
Try connecting directly to the M3 in USALS mode then :-wow , even though the STAB motors have always been fully DiSEqC 1.2 compliant as standard, it says on the sticker, the box, the manual etc.

Where did you get it from (not one of our friendly sponsors ?)
 
Tried that but still the same. The seller is now claiming the TM 5402 m3 is not recognised as user of USALS. Trying to fob me off. Got it from B_dogs on Fleabay. I tried all 3 receivers with an old TM motor. None make the old TM motor go into reverse when they reach the East limit.
 
You have the seller over a barrel then, the motor is compliant with both protocols, the type of receiver used for testing is immaterial to the fault.

Presumably you paid by Paypal
 
It might be worth telling the Seller you are consulting experts (!) on this esteemed Forum ....

Yes I paid with Paypal and have already told him I was making enquiries on a satellite forum and was prepared to open a dispute through Ebay/Paypal. Now he is selling +the Stab 100 much cheaper than what I paid for it.

Is it worth contacting Stab in Italy with the serial number so they can verify when it was made or if it had been returned to them as faulty and your seller has somehow got hold of factory rejects?
 
Good, then the eBay dealer has nothing to fall back on, check with them on the carriage costs, though they should (if they have a reputation to keep) offset this against the costs you have incurred getting it off the roof so soon after buying.

Did you get a receipt confirming two year warranty against defects when you bought it ?

Yes I have a Paypal invoice and he is till advertising the 2 year warranty on his Ebay listing for the same motor.

Been reading this thread with interest as I was thinking of a Stab motor as I was thinking of upgrading my dish to a 90cm-100m, I hope you get a resolution on this. Think I'll just stick with my Darkmotor Superior all metal gear model.

Hello mate

Are you using ofter this motor? Many years ago, more than 10, I hade two HH-120 on 1,2m dish, used too, toooooo much with feedhunting receivers........, maybe will be in live for years with smaller dish size, but accidentaly or not, both died immediately after warranty period...o_O ..., looks like preprogrammed in eprom to die, but I hope it was not....I dont know....:confused
