Hello,

I have a Techomate TM-5402 HD Super CI Reciever.

Does anyone now the maxmum size External Hard Drive that can be used, cant see anything in the user manual.

Looking to use either a 500GB or 1TB powered HD

Ok have a 1TB WD powered external HDD

When I plug it in it says no Disk on menu, tried formatting, says formatting /Volume0, been doing that for ages now, not sure if its crashed or formatting

Why not try somenthing smaller, like a USB stick and see how long it takes to format. If, for example it takes 3 minutes for a 4GB stick then you will know a 1TB drive will take over half a day.

I formatted a 320GB hard disc (as an external drive on my laptop) to change from NTFS to FAT32. I started it in the early evening and had to leave it overnight to complete!

Ok, all done,

used a 1TB but had to convert it to FAT32

I downloaded a free utility called FAT32format.exe, Quick formatted the full 1TB on my PC in less than a minute, works fine on Tehnomate, no problems recording now!

I agree this is a great little box,
HOWEVER i am having problems connecting a usb external hardrive and recording onto it.
can someone explain the process from plugging in usb to recording to playing back,(ive formatted to fat32) already.
my usb hard drive is a hdmi player and external harddrive in one with two partitions.

I have a related question.....

I have a couple of 500gb hard drives in caddies doing nothing and I know I will need external power to make this work. Can I simply use a 3 pin mains plug with a USB socket on it - the kind of thing used to charge phones etc - or is there another method

Ta

Technomate support do not recommend a powered hdd they suggest a usb hdd.
