Just if you do go for another technomate box, leave the "enigma 2" flavours alone. Imho.

ok, straight question guys.. what should i buy ? PC Card ? another STB ? 5302 ? gimmy a model.

if this box would just do the blind search properly that would be fine,
having the ability to blind search a certain range is a MUST for me.

i hark for the days of my analogue setups , D2 mac , simplex cards etc.. it was much easier lol..
cheers rob

I would go for the tbs6903

TBS 6903 Dual Tuner HD Satellite PCI Express Card with Blind Scan

He is a forum sponsor, and it looks to do the same as the tbs 6983.

Muti stream apsk etc.

But that's £199 (but worth it imho)

Like I said I use a tm5302 and tbs 6983 on my 1.5m dish and my enigma 2 on my 1.25m & 1.0m dish.

I can only speak from my experience.

With the sat card you have a lot more choice, regarding the blindscan.

Crazyscan is a free option, or a lot of us use easy blind scan but that costs, but worth it.

i hear you chris, there's 1 or 2 things putting me off,
1 i like to take the sat box into the living room at night if the wife is sleeping, that way i don't disturb her ( believe me she is disturbed enough ) :-lol
2, i would have to buy a remote control for the pc and that can be a bit of a faff, and if I'm using the pc at the same time as feed hunting, that may cause issues,
its £200 for a pcie card.. not a fortune i know , but still ..

but i might,,
thanks rob

i know, i chose the 5502 cos William said it better suited my LNB ...and it was 2 numbers higher so MUST be better right ?? lol

The "two higher numbers" for the TM-5502 do not automatically mean it is a better box for feed hunting. The TM-5502 has a CI slot to accept a CAM that the TM-5302 does not. Other than that, they are almost identical except that the TM-5502 comes in a bigger case. Get a TM-5302 and have done with the messing about.

Put it this way, if I was offered one free box from a choice of a TM-5302 and a TM-5502 I would select the TM-5302 every time. My choice of the TM-5302 is 100% due to the blind scan issue with the TM-5502.

@ Rob.

Have you used the Technomate to watch any normal TV, not feeds? If so, is it any good for that purpose?

As I said on another post, you can get information about feeds from sites like Satelliweb and watch whatever might be of interest. I am interested in feeds, but I wouldn't spend the whole day blind scanning 30 satellites just to find something which has not been found already, and might not be of any interest to view. And if you are viewing late at night, as I said before there is not much feed activity happening then anyway.

satweb is OK, but would prefer to find my own feeds, that's the whole point, and blind scanning a range off TP's would not take long (IF the receiver worked ! )
cheers rob
ps i bought it for feedhunting, most of the sat channels are total crap, i have sky for regular tv.

This experience has put me RIGHT off buying Technomate again.

If you expect to find your own feeds then you will have to blind scan a whole set of TP ranges on about 10 different satellites, if you restrict yourself to the busiest ones for feeds. That will take up loads of your time, remembering that you will have to repeat the process over and over to find new feeds which crop up all the time. And this will tie up whatever screen you are using. I think that your new found interest in blind scanning might wane after a while.

If you think that regular TV channels are crap, you will hardly be amused by hours of watching people setting up microphones and listening to one side of studio to OB exchanges.

Hello ive been feedhunting for 15 years and love it more each day, the only problem is wanting bigger antenna to find more people messing with microphones.
