There doesn't seem to be anyway of switching off subtitles. If the channel is broadcasting subtitles I can't switch them off.

Do I need to upgrade the software or something?

Thanks.

Subtitles, or translation ?

On which channel in particular? as I don't seem to be able to find one easily that has them, to test, as I did know how to get them on and off, need to check.

Try the subtitle button on the remote, 3 up from the middle should give you the option to switch subs off.

Its any channel that is transmitting subtitles. I tried hitting the subtitles button it just says no subtitles. I go to a channel thats not transmitting subtitles and the subtitles from the other channel refuses to disappear. The only way to get rid of it is to switch off the receiver.

There doesn't seem to be an option in the menu to switch off the subtitles completely.

Doesn't help!

You should be able to press the Subtitle button, and select on or off etc, I'm not able to try on the TM5200 at the moment, but thats what my TM6800 does. Do you have the latest firmware?

Is it this remote, or another ?

Yes, I have the latest firmware.

I have solved the problem. I changed the video format to auto in the a/v output setting section of the System setting in the menu.

Thanks for everyones help.

Glad you got it sorted, but TBH I'm clueless why that fixed it. LOL.

Got to do that every time I turn it on from standby.

Could be a faulty box.

Ok, I just tried on my TM5200 super, no probs, the subtitle button worked as it did on my Tm6800. More likely a software issue rather than a hardware fault I would have thought.

Mine's got official Technomate firmware from March 2009 on it.

According to the Technomate website, one of the mods for Aug 2009 was "subtitle recoding", perhaps they screwed it up.
