The only trouble with TM (All models) and all the other clones, if you use the 'user' LOF then Spectrum mode does not work.
I have set dummy ones for Ka set at Ku so it works.

Westerhope,
further to my original question, rather than feed hunting and just for a standard box, is the 5502 HD better than the 5402 HD mK3 when using 2 Lnbs on 1 dish? thanx

There is not much in it so your set up with the TM5402HD M3 will be ideal if your main intrest is DTH.

William,

What are the main differences for feed hunting between the TM-5302 and the TM-5502 apart from the case size and CI with the TM-5502?

The TM5502HD is a better receiver than the slim TM5302HD I find theTM5502HD CI+ more reliable maybe they use better quality parts on the upmarket version?
The TM5302HD slim can perform all the tasks involved in feed hunting but is more prone to getting stuck on a Blind Scan nothing that cannot be fixed I find that if I save the channel list & factory reset the receiver it woks ok for a while.

William,

Is there a fat version of the TM-5302, I have seen references to the slim version of the TM-5302 but what about a fat version (non slim) and how does the fat TM-5302 compare to a TM-5502?

William,

Thank you for your feedback.
It seems that the fat version of the TM-5302 does not have the blind scan issue of the slim version where it gets stuck, is that correct?

That was my findings 6 months ago I have not used the slim version since,
I will try loading my latest channel list for the 5502HD that I issued yesterday on the slim 5302HD & let you know if this is still an issue as the all versions used to do this untill I changed my channel list & TM issued new software 23-5-2015,
I just need to check that I upgraded slim ? before I condemn this version as theoretically it should work the same.

16 east used to be the problem with a low symbol rate being repeated over & over again in the 12500 to 12750 part of the Ku band until I pressed the stop button,

Latest software loaded on the Slim TM5302HD my new channel list loaded,

Couple of Blind scans later no problems observed so either the transmission has gone or the problem has been fixed,

So it looks like all 3 versions work ok now so I will leave this set up as it is for now :)

@william-1 , can you throw any light on this please ....

Rx: TM-5502 HD CI+, does not seem to want to blind scan Ka band. With correct LOF input in the "user" for new Ka/Ku Inverto on the dedicated Ka output of the lnb it starts to scan but more or less instantly shows a completed scan window. Even selecting the pre-programmed Ka LOF it still will not scan properly.
Any other band, C or Ku it scans normally.
My 5402 mk3 scans Ka without any problem using the same Inverto Ka/Ku lnb.

Any help greatly appreciated

Support for these receivers while very good unless this is picked up in the early stages after release & reported to TM there is not much that can be done now except to use 2 receivers,
As the software people rarely go back to a receiver after 2 to 3 years,
You could contact TM to tell them of your discovery & maybe they can help,

I tried that William, they denied it was a problem, and said it should work, got nowhere with them.

William,

Concerning the TM-5302 fatline version and the TM-5502, how would you say they compared to an old Manhattan XTF for feed hunting on SD feeds?
I have an old Manhattan XTF somewhere and wondered if it would be any use for non HD feeds re SCPC with frequencies close together and low symbol rates etc.

In your time you have tested most of these receivers and I think the Manhattan XTF was high up your lists at one point? Obviously it is only SD, but for SD performance what's it like compared to the Technomates?

Nothing wrong with your open box for finding feeds.
Till yet I haven't find any feeds. I am not able to find any signal for feed frequency. All other is okay.today there was a live feed on asiasat 5 3828/7120/H. I had tuned for strongest tp of asiasat 5 after that there was no signal for this feed. Trying for various feeds for last 6 days.
