After my own experience with the BEST switches it was roughly what I expected to hear, if not what I would have hoped to!

So, if anyone else has examples of those types of switches which do, or don't, work in a cascade setup, then it would be useful if they could give us their experience.

BTW: from what the guy at EMP stated (as above) it seems that a lot will also depend on which types of switches are used at which level. From what I have read/seen so far, there are a limited number of types which will work at the higher level (i.e. next along in the cascade after the switches to which the LNBs are directly connected), and those in that category are some of the more expensive ones which often have physical switches on them, or are programmable (IF you can obtain the programmer !), to change the modes in which they work - EMP have several, as do SPAUN - are there others?

Oh yes, there are plenty other brands that do diseqc 1.1 (or 2.1) switching.
I've seen ones from Axing, Gecen, Hama....
I've read there are also really cheap ones from China, that someone was content with (but not with rain protection cap, as extension points were at top AND bottom).

It's not always clear at what uncommitted level they are able to switch though: at levels UC1, UC2, UC3 or UC4, or at a combination of uncommitted and committed commands. The specs are not always conclusive, and you sometimes have to test it out yourself.

Edit: The cheap Chinese ones are "JS-08A" 8/1 switches. It costs less than 11 euros at some websites :).
No experience with them myself....:(.
