Telesur new transponder

Just wondering, on my sx88 +, the new transponder for Telesur on Hispasat seems better quality and has the HD next to the Telesur logo in the corner of the TV, and the picture quality is a lot better, it no way as much pixelated, however on the info menu for the SX88 it still displays the same resolution of 704/576 and still MPEG 2— anyone any ideas how or what changed? Maybe a strange question but suppose we are all learning along the way;)
 
Resolution isn't everything. More bandwidth or a newer, more efficient encoder? Downscaling from HD tends to produce a nicer SD image too.
