no you should not get these as teletext and ceefax are analogue text systems available on terrestrial transmissions which will close soon, these systems are not available on digital satellite.

Many Channels on other Satellites continue to make use of Text services, however. Especially German ones.
Your receiver is not alone in having Text features and they're not yet completely redundant!

Ive seen a report Teletext will probably be scrapped next year in any case - its revenues are reported to be going down horribly fast

Ah, good old Prestel. My first go at online information services in the early 80's with my BBC Computer and home-made modem, way before the internet.
Even had an account with Bank of Scotland and a bookmaker using the system.
Some problems with the bookie - I could access everybody else's accounts occasionally

Me too! The HOBS Service, which later left Prestel and had it's own "Tandata" terminal which you plugged in at home. Wizzy!

I found a Tandata modem in our Maths dept whilst hasving a clear out on Monday!
