Terrestial Signal too strong :-(

Just put a Global Communications F180 Distribution amplifer in along with a skybox Yadda yadda, when ya plug in the Terrestrial antenna in the whole thing goes boss eyed (to all bar the main TV which is A scart feed anyways), Tried changing the output channel on the digibox to no avail...... Well it made it worse at one point ...... So I guess I need an attenuator but what size )(-red ranging from 3bd up to 24............. umm whas gonna get a 10 & a 20 and try pot luck...... Is there some kind of scientific way of calculating this ? Was looking at the variable jobby too but it looks a lil well...... vomitishous
Any one got any suggestions ?

How are you setting this up J.M.? You should be using a triplexed wall plate, then sending a return from the digibox to the input on the loftbox. If you do need to attenuate the UHF signal, you need to do it at the loftbox input.

PS. Yes there is a scientific way of knowing how much attenuation you need, but it involves measuring the signal in the first place, so you require a meter.

I've dropped three lines down the cavity, 1 terrestrial antenna ,1 Dish, RF2 to Distribution amp stashed in the ceilingspace 1 in 8 out (Greedy buggers) http://tvlink.co.uk/amplifiers.htm

F180 has "F" plug connectors rarther than the Std push in coax connections

No diplexing done........ I love lots of wire ;)

I bought a full set of cheepo attenuators, all of £8.00 worth

Turned out a 3db reduction sorted the problemo
