I more or less switched off music radio about 10 years ago.

I'm not an old git, it's just I am fed up of hearing wall to wall 1960s/1970s/1980s music. And modern music is basically 90% garbage.

If I want to listen to a specific track, I'll dig it out of my audio collection, or go visit YouTube.

Nowadays, I'm into speech radio: Radio 5, LBC, Talk Sport - and to a lesser extent Radio 4 and Radio 7.

However, I was intrigued with Chris Evans' new breakfast show on Radio 2. I thought I'd listen to it this morning, just to see if this guy has grown up yet. But oh no! It may have been nerves, but Chris has not changed. It still doesn't shut up, and for the most part talks complete, infantile cobblers.

I had to check this was Radio 2. Remember, it's a station geared towards mid 30s-plus. But with Chris on the air this morning, it sounded like Radio 1.

And good grief, he's still going with that annoying posse concept, started in the 1980s by Steve Wright. I find posses sooooo annoying. We have Chris talking, then the weather woman chips in, then the traffic woman, and even the sports guy talks as much as Chris. What a load of rubbish. Kids' stuff.

I can't see listeners to Terry Wogan liking this drivel. For a start, Chris was singing along with a Frank Sinatra track!

And how Wogan managed to stay at that mic for over 30 years. I bet he's glad he finally took the plunge and retired. When I was a kid, I would have jumped at a chance to be a DJ. Now, it's the last thing I'd do!

I only listen to radio Solent or radio 4. I can't stand Chris Evans. I used to listen to Wogan years ago but got bored with the banter. TV, well odly enough I watched very little, I just like to play with my DM 8000.

Wogan was ok in small doses.

Made a right t*t of himself on "Celebrity" Mastermind recently, though.

I protested to the BBC about dumbing down when the little gnome took over the drive-time slot. Certainly shan't listen to his Breakfast prog.

And Simon Mayo is not my cup of tea either.

Can be heard on Saturday and Sunday mornings on the Magic radio group network.

Didn't know that - but he did leave Auntie somewhat abruptly, IIRC!

Why is Chris doing this breakfast show anyway? The guy is reportedly worth 80 million.

If I had a quarter of that dosh, the last thing I'd be doing is getting up at 3am, and playing records and talking trash from 7am to 9.30am.

Yes, he's being paid. But it's like giving 40 quid per week to a millionaire. Doesn't even make a dent. In fact, you could say he'd doing it for nothing.
