The original 1963 series of The Outer limits starts a rerun at 8:00pm this evening on Talking Pictures TV.

First up is "The Galaxy Being". A radio station operator contacts an experimenter in another galaxy. Never mind the impossible physics, just enjoy the story.

Got the set on DVDs, but nevertheless I'll be watching them on my favourite channel.

Upcoming tomorrow is the episode that scared the living spit out of me so much I had nightmares and a bad day in school the next day.

It Crawled Out of the Woodwork.
Created by accident, an Energy Creature is unleashed, with a dangerous appetite for human life.

It was made in 1963 and back in those days it took about a year for American series to make it across the channel so I must have been 12 at the time. Far too young!

My memory tells me that this was the second or third shown on TV so either that's wrong (entirely possible) or the series was shown out of sequence (also entirely possible). Can anyone confirm either of those?
 
Off-topic but what scared the "living spit" out of me was the sequence in Quatermass and the Pit where people looked down a tube into the "thing" in the Pit - and saw an "eye" looking back at them!

Couldn't get that out of my mind for weeks, especially late at night!o_O

Completely agree.
 
After mentioning Quatermass I am reminded of a really chilling moment in Quatermass II where they try to poison the monster in the dome with oxygen. Quatermass looks through a tube and says something along the lines of "The monster's blocking the tubes with bodies".
