The T.Rex/Dragon 4.1 Re: Sim chip.

Dear Dragon/Trex specialists.

I have purchased too many cams with not much support after a few months. Had my fingers burnt!

After throwing more good money after bad I have decided to invest in a Dragon?tREX cam v4.1 with loader cards and programmer.

I have a Official Spice Platinum card. Will this work with the Cam. also I understand I can marry my Sky Freeview card to watch Sky Three , C4 and c5.

Can the cam be used to watch a Via 2.6 Art Sports card. . Who does the breaking of the Chip of official cards to insert in the chip section . Dear Rato does it fit nicely in the HDCI 2000 Humax.

My Goal is to have the dragon/TREXCam with the latest Predxxxx working with Premiere and watching ART SPORTS with the chip broken inserrted in the chip bit. then swap occasionly the Spice and Freesat cards which I have decided not to break. with the cam to watch.
Thanks for you help in advance.

Sorry if this is a stupid question. Just to confirm the Dragon 4.1 with the Dragon logo and the Blue Trex are exactly the same thing?

Shahid.

The chip insert will only work with the free mature content card/chip as far as I know. I beggered up a perfectly good Canaldigitaal card trying.

Not only does the dragon decode spice without a card, it decodes TPS and a load of other stuff. Apart from sky it also works with canaldigitaal cards. What I am talking about is the second smart card slot, the small plastic bit where you can insert free port card's chip after removing it from the card.

I think that Shahid is asking if he can put his spice card into the second slot, the one that fits the chip only and use his sky card in the main slot. I am pretty certain that this will not work and although spice is free with the dragon today, it may not be free tomorrow. If Shahid wants to use both his spice card and his sky card, he will have to swap or buy a second CAM. And while on the subject of second CAMs, although the dragon works with a second CAM in the receiver, it tends to be 'greedy' and sometimes tries to decode streams that it cannot, even if you have a subscription card in the second CAM. Switching cannels and sometimes rebooting usually fixes this but I have on occassion had to swap my Aston 1.07 and Dragon around.

leave the poor dragon alone, mine can be as greedy as it wants as long as it stays as good as it is. (i dont have a second cam anyway):-rofl2

I need a second cam as I have a canaldigitaal and a sky nds card.

No dragons were mistreated in any way while putting my sat system together.

I have a Topfield 5500 with a T-Rex for Sky and a SECA CAM for Cyfra+ (official card). I have had no attention-seeking problems from the T-Rex.

I have also found that if the Sky card is an FTV-only card, e.g. an FTV card or a lapsed-subscription card, they are happy to live in sin together without getting married. The Sky card has to visit a Digibox every five weeks or so, that's all.

The problem with the Predator software is that it is getting a bit too clever, and thus a bit too naughty, which will lead to problems with obtaining T-Rex's in some countries as it will be assumed that people only want them to unscramble certain packages illegally.

Yes, I have found it out.

It occurred to me that since the Firecrypt card works both in the SIM slot and in the main slot, maybe other cards do, too.

So, using a fine-tooth saw, a file and a pressed-out SIM card as a template, I cut and filed a SKY FTV card so that it would fit in the SIM slot of a T-Rex CAM. So, yes, it can be cut to fit there, but (and here comes the bit you won't like (I didn't like it))....

It didn't work.

That is to say, the T-Rex did not recognise the cut-down Sky card there.

Using the full-size card that I had pressed the SIM card out of as a support and a bit of sticky tape, I put the Sky card back in the main slot, where it worked. So the chip in the Sky card is under the contacts and can survive being cut down to SIM size, but the T-Rex (and I assume the Dragon too) simply doesn't accept it in the SIM slot.

I do not know if this is a hardware limitation, or if it can be corrected by software. That's a question for the Dragonmasters.

I must assume that it also applies to other cards (Viaccess, Seca, etc.).

This is a great pity. There are quite a few receivers available with two CI slots, but, as far as I know, and please correct me if you know better, there are none with three or more SAM slots (some Astons have two CIs and two Viaccess/Seca slots, but that's not what I mean). So there is a market for CAMs able to accept more that one card using various scrambling systems, like the MasCom CAMs only with more systems.
