is there a best price web site yet ?

Yow . . .

280.00 GBP
United Kingdom Pounds = 536.997 USD
United States Dollars

Got to blame the exchange rate there :(

No US importers?

It was all that I could do just to find info !!

a couple of questions . . .

1) I d/led the pdf manual and couldn't tell if the TD was US voltage
compliant 120 vac 60 hz

2) I assume the unit HAS to be connected to the internet by way of a
broadband modem (Cable/DSL/T1 etc). I can also assume it NEEDS to be connected for software u/l~d/l which will keep cloning at bay ? A dialup computer and an ethernet connection to that computer won't do it ?

3) Is the VAR applicable to me beings I would be buying from oustside of the UK ?

4) As far as US importers . . . I did a GOOGLE search just to find you!
There were no US importers as such.

Right now no Canadian/US importer ~ distributor is picking up ANYTHING new. Nagravision2 is tightening around the neck of FTA's and I think most suppliers will be dropping the bottom out of their FTA prices. This will continue until/unless a N2 patch becomes available ! Most of them are using Dreambox for their flagship. Coolsat is also popular.

I'll tell you one thing what used to be CADILLAC (top of the line) is now a door stop (JUNK) for most ( i.e. BlackBird ) There are alot of P!SSED OFF Blackbird owners !

thanks Llew for the reply

Is it possible to run the Sky card in the Triple Dragon with appropiate software?

No reason why not with the gbox emulator, haven't tried myself yet.

Hi chris

Voltage input for the TD - 90-260V., 47-63Hz. Pretty much standard for most STB's etc.

The receiver itself doesn't need to be connected to the internet but some images allow you to update softcam keys this way. A LAN connection to your PC or via a router is necessary for image uploading, but as these are BIG (8 -10 MB), I wouldn't consider downloading them via a dial-up connection.

Not sure of the tax situation. I know I had to pay a local tax when I imported my TD from the Netherlands, best to check with the supplier if and when you decide to purchase.

Nag2 not hacked here yet, but we still have one or two providers open (so far..)

Clones such as the Blackbird which use the STi5518 chip abound in Europe and Far/Near East (Fortec etc.) and have been very much in use for decrypting systems such as V*access, S*ca,and C*onax and Nag1. Bit quiet at the moment - we wait, we hope...

thanks for the reply Llew. If you don't mind me asking can I assume you're in the UK ? And if the TD is not purchased there the VAR does not apply correct?

So bottom line did/do you have a netherland link ?

thanks chris

Yes, I'm in the UK. As a member of the EU and buying from within the EU we don't pay the British Value Added Tax (VAT), but the tax as applies in the country of purchase. It was still cheaper than buying in the UK.

The link -

Price given includes local tax, but not postage. A Dollar conversion is available.

P.S. It seems as the the main Electrical input socket is of a standard computer
type i.e any US 120vac/60hz computer power cord would work !

Llew was that ALL three components?

IRD ~ HD/DVD Recorder ~ Surround Sound Unit

No, just the receiver. Still waiting for unit 2 to appear, unit 3, who knows?

Power lead normal IEC type, you may need to change plug to match your AC supply, or as you say, use PC type.

llew well done mate on your endeavours - i have a question though - what made you buy the Triple dragon instead of the Dreambox 7020 - apart from being slightly cheaper say £40 £50 quid - was there any other reason ?

Latest DB apparently has got everything one could possibly want in terms of expandability etc etc

Bearing in mind the 7020 wasn't available when I bought the Triple Dragon,, the choice was between the 7000 and a TD.

The superior specification swayed me. 7000 owners now need to upgrade to the 7020 to play catchee upee :) If you're in the market for a new receiver, then the 7020 might appeal, but I still think the TD has plenty of scope for the future. Plenty of stuff coming online regarding images and tools now.

The forthcoming units to complement the receiver will also make a great media centre - just check their spec.

Does the Triple feel like better quality overall than the Dreambox?

I can't decide either as i am torned between the DM and Triple.....

I asume the tuner in Triple is more sensitive and still is better than the DM7020?
