Under positioner setup I move the motor East looking for a signal. When the motor reaches the East limit in the motor it returns to 0 instead of stopping. You do not know it is doing this and therefore it can be confusing. Not a problem on when moving West.
I had an email from Stab today after I told them of the fault with my Stab HH100. They state the motor is a 2009 model, despite me buying it in 2017. Initially they agreed it was a software fault and contacted Tony at Hisat. Then Stab changed their mind and claims. Quote "I am sending the motor to a satellite position which is out of my range, more then 60° which means down of your Horizon. In that case the behaviour of the motor is correct because it did not found the position so drives back to center." End Quote.
No mention as to why it does not do the same on the West limit. No mention why it does the same with the DR HD 1000s meter when it has no coordinates set. Does this mean the Stab motors are of no use when doing a manual scan of the arc when using a spectrum analyser? It would seem so. I do not have the same problem with the Technomate motor, it reaches its limit and stops. Maybe Stab thought it better to go along with Hisat waffle to keep his business. Either way no more Stab for me.

How strange. I've got one on it's way from there so hope it's okay.
Looking at pictures you posted yours is a newer model as it has the satfinder function built in (Beeper)

How long is the Coax you have had connected to this and did you try a receiver on a short cable?

Looking at your posts about it I assumed it had already gone back to the seller.

Went back, several pages of absolute waffle received, came back the same. Even in my den with it connected to a lnb on the desk, the motor ans Dr HD meter its still the same. What confuses me is why not the same result on both East and West.

Yeah thats the strange thing, though you can set a limit on it over USALS, have you tried clearing the limits?

Hisat claims he reset the motor, even though I had done it several times before it went back.

Really bizarre, mine will be here tomorrow and I'll be happy to run some tests on the bench to check anything if it helps.

Yes by all means, maybe all Stab motors are meant to do that. Just had another test but no different, although it does sound whiny and a bit erratic. Never mind, I will stick in the metal bin for the tip.

Before you do that, take images of the outside and post here. I do have a client with a modern(ish) Stab rotor on their system and will be seeing them this weekend, if the weather improves.

It would appear that Stab motors can only be used in Diseqc or Usals settings. The motors are not designed to reach the internal limits, they are there as a safeguard. Therefore limits have to be set in the E2 setup to prevent the motor reaching its internal set limits of the motor. Stab are unable or unwilling to state why the assumed fault only occurs on the East limit. I believe its a poor design and will have no choice but to use other makes until I go back to 36 volt setup.

On other motors the limits can be set by the user, a fixed limit switch (60 degrees?) makes the Stab an inferior design if it cannot be used to receive signals near the horizon.

What does the manual state about mechanical limits ?

Rusty Spoons has it right - I've have 3 STAB-Rotors the only time I had problems was with bad software in the receiver sending data - the first time it happened I didn't know why and thought it was the rotor but Tony said it would work OK after a RESET and it did he said that DiSEqC has satellites numbered and you save the numbers at positiions but USALS works out where the satellites are and if a satellite receiver has both then the data can clash

Really! As you have 3 Stab motors can you therefore tell me why the problem only exists on the East and not the West? Could it be that your motors were made after 2009 when the update was implemented, whereas my motor was made in 2009 before the update and sold to me in 2017.

I am on my 3rd & 4th Stab motors,
The 1st one lasted 12 years then I sent it to the West via DiSEqC 1.2 & it locked up my error as I had not set the stop position,
2nd one failed to work after 15 years,
I have a couple of Dark motors in the shed used for a couple of years but I wanted more height so went back to the StabHH100.

EAST-WEST Limits (only for enabled receiver. Therefore if a receiver is not enabled the motor uses the 70 degree limits.
Therefore why does my motor return on the East limit and not the West limit. Neither Stab or Hisat can or are willing to answer that question.

Im wondering if its been "enabled" by a USALS command at some point, maybe factory or something? And it needs clearing.

How to reset a Stab 100 motor using a TM5402HD or similar NDF type satellite receiver:-
Select DiSEqC 1.2 & remove all limits then select Reset the system Press OK,
Recalculate Press OK,
Goto Reference Press OK,
Delete Limit Press OK,

Now you can set up your East West Limits (Advisable if you use DiSEqC 1.2)

DiSEqC 1.3 USALS users reselect USALS & your motor should now respond to the receiver commands.

Thanks William. I will dig out the TM5402 and give that a try as soon as I can. Her indoors up and down to hospital, Flossie the Lurcher on her last legs, a walk round the block now takes 50 minutes instead of 15.
