My Satellite Setup
Pace DSR 620-GM - Sky NZ
UEC DSD 720 - SA Decoder Unusuable here in NZ
UEC DSD-990 Also SA Decoder - Unusuable
Thomson DSI - 4101 - Hope To use that for Freeview NZ
My Location
New Zealand
Hi there all I am looking for some help here.

I obtained a Thomson DSI - 4101 Satellite Reciever from the UK. and I need a bit of help setting it up in NZ to be used for the New Zealand Freeview. See here _http://www.lyngsat.com/optusd1.html. However I cannot find the menu to enter in the correct settings. Also is this even possible. If it is that Decoder will make a excellent freeview box and also maybe it could also be used for the NZ Sky tv as Sky NZ and Sky UK use the same encryption system NDS Videoguard.

Can someone help me or give me any recomendations

Take it outside and drown it in a bucket of water.

Its a SkyUK box and is more or less useless in New Zealand - they best you will get out of it is using the Add Channels menu, and watching any channels on Other Channels

You certainly wont get it to work with the epg system.

Also Different versions of NDS Videoguard use different "flavours" of ther encryption so the UK and NZ versions are unlikley to be compatible.

And again anyway you wont get anything on the epg as the NZ version will transmit on a different frequency to that the UK box is looking for.

It won't get anything at all off there as the standard UK Sky box only does 22000 and 27500 symbol rates.

For FTA channels, get a generic FTA satellite receiver locally.
 
I travel to NZ regularly for the winter and have tried unsuccessfully to connect using my mobile sat system from Lidl based on the Silver Crest dvb-s sl 65/12. I take it I would have the same problem based on you previous reply .
As this is my first post not to sure on procedure.

No it should be fine for the FTA channels which is what it was designed for, but nothing else. The sky stb is restricted in what it can receive and as mentioned is almost useless away from 28.2 East oh and welcome to the forum.
 
My problem must be my inability to add a new Satellite to the pre-programmed reciever . The Sat required is Optus D1. Any ideas on how to add this to the existing Stellite setup. Does'nt give any info in the documentation. Thanks again
 
Just use another satellite and add in any missing frequencies. Most receivers allow you to change satellite names and add frequencies in the menu.
 
I've been trying to find this info for ages. Had a word with the manf. support team thismorning and he pointed me in the right direction.Thanks for the help.
