The other day three IT men got into a newly refurbished lift at their office. One remarked that the MDF was a high-quality beech effect which went well with the spotlights and red shag pile carpet.

The second IT man asked, "What's MDF?"

The third responded, "Master data file."

True story, sadly.

If a BT engineer was in there, he would have said 'Main Distribution Frame' (forever imprinted on my mind...)
