My Satellite Setup
3.2 metre with quad LNB for 28E with Pace 2600C1. 2.4 metre movable with Samsung DSR9500 & Dragon CAM.
My Location
Larnaca, Cyprus
If like me you find that the dish you have is too small (I have a 3.2 metre here in Larnaca Cyprus) and the signal breaks up, at the well discussed times, I have found that using BBCI clears up the signal completely.

This is invaluable on days like today when the footie is on the BBC. If I watch the usual 101 its unwatchable but as soon as I use the red button the signal clears.

Cant tell you why, but hopefully someone on here will be able to explain whats going on.

Hope this helps someone.

Best regards to all TPH

The BBC's are all on Astra 2D which is the one that reuires a massive dish. The BBCi Channels are on Astra 2B (South Beam) which can be got on a 1.5m dish anywhere on Island. To check this press Services-4-0-1-select on you remote; select Manual tuning, change the top line to 12441and press select ONCE. The screen you will get will give an indication of the strength/Quality of the signal. Press select again and you will see the channel list - this will also explain why Radio 2 & 4 stay clear when the others have gone! 'Back up' all the way out after you see the channels as there is no point saving any! The sky digibox will not allow you to select any of these interactive channels other than through the red button whilst on a BBC (with a picture - of sorts). For those with a non-skybox pointed at 28.2E then these channels can be selected and watch without the large dish required for other BBC's.

Hope that helps

Cheers

Nick

PS You mention that 'when 101 is unwatchable'......assuming you are on BBC London then this is the strongest channel. Otherwise you should be selecting 974. I ssume you know the best ITV settings etc.;)

I do not have 974. For some reason my box (Pace 2600C1) has 973 and 975 but no 974. Is there anyway of getting 974?

For ITV I use other channels ITV1 Central S. Is there a better way?

Thank you very much for your reply Nick, very much appreicated.

If 974 is unavalaible, when you bring up 101 then it should be BBC1 London. Is this correct? if so then 101 is indeed the strongest channel, iIf not the the EPG is probably corrupted - unplug the digibox for 30secs then plug it back in again. This normally cures the problem.

ITV Anglia S or N are the strongest ITV's. For you they will have to be selected through the 'other channels' menu:

Bring up the Services menu and choose option 4 for System Setup then 4 again for Add Channels. Type in the frequency info – 10714, V, 22.0, 5/6. Now choose Find Channels and the list of channels being broadcast by that transponder appears. Scroll down to one of the Anglia Channels, press the yellow button & press the Select button to save your choice. Your selected channel will now be available under the "Other Channels" option on the Services menu.

Do you have a subscription or a Free to View Card?

The 2600C1 is the best one for out here. Can you tell me the software version please. (services 4 5)

Cheers

Yes 101 is BBC1 London. I have been using ITV Anglia S as you suggested.

We have the basic package only.

The software version is: 9F0803.

Guess I need to change my dish from 3.2 to 4.2. Could you reccomend any manufacturers?

Thank you for all your help.

Sorry, I only usually go up to 3.2m.
BTW to the more serious installers, I wouldn't mind having a crack at a 4.2m for experience so if any of you need help one day............:D

Software is up to date, though I hear its being updated soon.

Because you have a subscription you can get E4. Heres how:

Add E4:
To access the above channels, you need to add them to the "Other Channels" section of the Digibox "Services" menu.
Bring up the Services menu and choose option 4 for System Setup then 4 again for Add Channels. Type in the frequency – 11565. Now choose Find Channels and the list of channels being broadcast by that transponder appears – E4. Press the yellow button & press the Select button saves your choice; your selected channels will now be available under the "Other Channels" option on the Services menu. Don’t forget though, you need a sky subscription in order to view this channel!

Apologies if your not into BB but the wife is :-doh!

Cheers

I have a very good helper now but still takes almost all day to finish them..
I dont install 4.2's like they are done in your part of the island...
First of all,i make sure petals are level with each other using locking pliers, then pop rivet them in order, before bolting the petals...I know its more time consuming but the result is worth it..
