Tivo a good buy?

I recently read about Tivo,a recorder for tv. What i read lacked precision.
What i d like is something to connect to my FTA sat receiver,a new one from Technisat ,digiplus UHD S
What kind of device should I buy, the receiver has an interface ,USB and ethernet connectivity.
Just to record from FTA sat broadcasts.
 
Is there something stopping the Technisat from use of a standalone hard drive, or a memory stick?

well,nothing that I know... so,any standalone hard drive will do the job...and USB stick.... I feel stupid at times!!:wacko::D:p:(
 
I had an original Thomsom Tivo box and I loved it. It had the ability to do frame by frame replay so I coukd do my own offside VAR on the football.
