tm 6900 blindscan question

hi when using blindscan can you set the start and finish freq or are they preset thanks

Would not be much of a blind scan unless it was left to it's own devices to scan the relevant spectrum

its just that on some blindscan function ie vantage you can alter the start and finish freq

Yes exactly what I mean, my DVB-T USB stick software does that as well but I am meaning it is not a blind scan by definition if you are pre-determining the frequencies it is to scan

so does the 6900 allow that because on one review i read it didnt just wondered if the latest fw allowed it thanks

I have no idea, a blind scan cannot be called a blind scan if you are pre-determining the frequency range it is scanning.
A blind scan does not know what frequency range to scan because it is 'blind' to any parameters.


Which is why a blind scan takes a long time

Yes you can. You can set both frequency range and polarisation.

Why to use it in such way?

there are certain satellites which broadcast in signle frequency range and (or) single polarisation. So why waste time in searching unused frequencies?

thanks bombedone its just that i had the idea of using my spectrum on my satlook and if there was any difference in the spectrum to just search that freq to scan,or am i barking up the wrong tree

also an important thing is does the tm 6900 blind scan in 1-5mhz steps as the vantage will do that

Well these "steps" arend real steps actually. Your receivers tuner has some input range window, so these steps is used to move that window over the spectrum. If you look closely, you may notice that say the frequency was 12002, but actuall channels were recorded as 12005.
