To Embed or not to Embed

I would appreciate anyone's views on the subject of embedded cams. Is it better to buy a receiver with cam already embedded or buy one without the cam and purchase the cam separately?

Always better to have a cam EMB as most can be patched to work all types of cards.

Say Via or CNX EMB and with patch will work with IR2 ...S2 or CW cards.
