As per the title.

I get the odd reminder from the IoBit software suite to check and remove uneccessary toolbars from the menu, but when looking through the individual data that comes with them, apart from the name and sometimes a version number there is very little else that identifies what they are or where they are from.

So, is there a guide ?

Yes if there are that many my guide is get rid of them all then do a deep scan for rootkits and put back the odd one you actually need

Personally I don't use them at all, just clutter on the screen in my opinion.

There is nothing cluttering my screen though.

So how do you know you have them and an excess of them if all you have is a nag screen from Iobit?

I have no reason to doubt they are present within the PC. They might be on browsers that I don't actually use, or use that often (Chrome for example),

So, is there a way of finding out if they are useful, legitimate or otherwise ?

From the article

4. Find and delete any toolbars you don't think should be there.

and

4. Remove or disable any unwanted toolbars.

So the question remains, which ones are 'unwanted' ?

All of them these days.

Seeing as you can search direct from the address bar of firefox & chrome (dont know about the others as I dont use them) toolbars are pointless these days
