Upto to 2 days ago I was able to recieve alot of fta channels of Eurobird1 and Astra 2. Since yesterday I can`t watch any channels on at least these transponders:-
11426V 27500
11221H 27500
11264H 22000
11343V 27500
11389H 27500

Some channels which are on these transponders are Horror channel, matinee movies, pop, tiny pop, etc. Do you think they did a transponder change? I am asking this because lygsat.com and kingofsat.net does not report any change was done to any of these channels (that is none of them seems to use a different transponder from the one above).

Hi m8,
Just checked all of those transponders here in central Italy and all of the channels you mentioned are still there....no changes!

D.

hi denis1501,
i'm new in the forum, i'm in central italy, too and i have been experiencing a similar problem since early june and it got even worse in the past week. The same channels have disappeared, without mentioning film4 etc. which I've cancelled from the subscription 'cause they went on 2D (by the way I can't see them not even on the other "manually tuned" frequency), and I also have huge reception problems in the morning basically on ALL sky package channels (most FTV are ok). I start getting the signal back round late morning/lunch time. Where are you exactly, what dish size ? I'm in Rome (just outside, north-east). I don't understand why I can't mail to the forum members, but anyway, if you wish to mail me for exchanging technical info wich might not interest the other forum members, my address is max.max@freenet.co.uk. regards. maxmax

I think that you will find that you need a few more posts before you can Email/PM other members of the forum.

Hi Max,
I'm in Frosinone, near Sora.
I'm using a 1.25m offset dish with 0.3 Invacom LNB and a Pace 2600 receiver.
What you are experiencing at the moment with channels breaking up early morning is normal every year at this time and to my knowledge it is caused by atmospheric conditions. I'm sure the channels you refer to are those on the Astra 2A North beam, eg Channel 4, Sky Spts news, British eurosport and most of the Movies. It's not a skew problem either, believe me. Just a weak signal at that time. You'll find they stay all day again from around September on.
I guess we're lucky really because all channels (except 2D ones of course) come in loud and clear in the evening time when we need them most!
If you're missing the channels d_lamer2003 refers to then it's a skew problem you have as Eurobird channels are really strong 24 hrs a day here.
regards
D.

I think your theory is the most plausible one, because now all channels I mentioned in my first post, are ok. Though for 24hrs on all those transponders, you would get no signal whatsoever, but other transponders on the same satellite, would get good signal.

Ok just a bit off topic, but as I am on the subject I will ask it here.
Does the famous sun storms, (the electric stuff the sun sends) affect a lot, the signal of satellite tv?

Not directly, but they can (and have) destroyed satellites.

To clarify the statement "Not directly, but they can (and have) destroyed satellites." Not literally, just the electronics!

The satellites were not destroyed just the innards.

In 2004 we had a period of hyperactivity of the sun with related magnetic storms. One japanese tlc sat was "killed". Many others experienced anomalous events which in most cases did not effect the service, but that sharp rise in the number of many different events caused quite a few troubles (electrostatic discharge, channel amplifiers gain reset, small earth depointing, on board computer crashes) which did't cause service interruptions only because the on board electronics have always back-up automatic and/or manual (from ground control stations) routines and hardware redundancies ready to take over in a matter of seconds. Believe you me, and I talk from direct personal work experience, the sun storms create trouble, but tv viewers don not realize what goes on on board.

By the way, one sunny day I wish I will be able to understand what the hell went wrong on that piece of junk of astra 2a and b. I am quite sure that the rumour about the partial solar panel failure is true. And that might cause a weaker signal at fringe reception areas. My reception used to be perfect also on 2a and b north pol. H (now I can only get V, if I'am lucky and there is no cloud over africa) until just over one year ago. Unfortunately I cannot get info from ses-astra. I tried, but no luck. I can get any info from eutelsat and telespazio but nothing from them.
Denis1501, would you be so kind and list what you are able to watch these days ? It seems I can pick up only eurobird and a few useless channels, but no skyone, ukgold etc. and only sometimes and from the manual tuning sky news. For two days last week-end I could get everything again and then on monday night they've desappeared again. Another mistery.

Max.max,
I'm picking up everything except those channels on 2D.
UK Gold and Sky News, which you refer to, are two of the strongest signals here! You should not be having problems with them.
I see by your profile you have 2 digiboxes......have you tried with both? If the problem is there with both boxes check your lnb, it may be failing.

D.

You wont get anything out of SES. They are notoriously secretive about the health of the satellites. AFAIK they have never even publicly announced the termination of services on Astra 1B ( I rather suspect taht one had some sort of failure on board.. I did manage to get some info on the impending junking of 1A a week or so before it was despatched to oblivion, but that was a rare bit of useful info from them about their satellites.

yep, sky often change their transponders, as their system easily allows it.

For about 6 months, Vectone/ Horror channel/ Open Access have been on reduced power, causing some reception problems, but now back to normal again!

hi m8s, it seems the signal is back for whatever reason. 4 days ago i started to get all channels back again. That makes me think even more about the fact that the flying bucket has a power problem around summer solstice period due to sun position and that they are slightly turning the whole bird to catch more light because probably one solar panel motor is gone. I've tried to get info from space insurance underwriters to see if there was/is a claim pending for partial loss, but no luck because they probably have insured only service interrruptions meaning that partial and temporary (over a month !) fringe reception problems are not considered.

Well I think I know now, having read other messages. I received BBC 1 + 2 and ITV pretty well till about 2 weeks ago, then they disappeared so dramatically and completely I thought the dish had moved or something.
I have a 1.5m dish and am near Bologna Italy. Is there anything I can do? Or do I have to wait till September.
